It was a pretty cheap shot. Ball was out and Herrera (who got flagged for a late hit on Mauk later) tried to lift and drive Franklin into the turf.
The defender took one step after the ball was out. Legal, non-dirty, hit.

Saw this thread earlier and thought it was a a distortion of truth. Title change is better now.
I originally thought...football is a rough sport, injuries happen. Still think that, but after reading the UGA link highlighting what threat Frank the Tank poised.....Well, yea, he was being targeted big time. Unfortunate quote by one Dawg player who said, "I'm going to try to kill him."
I still don't think any repercussion will come from a review. But still a good thing for coaches to submit. Helps to keep everybody honest.

Seems to be a trend here..all Mizzou fans think it was a cheap shot while the rest of the rant thinks it is legit. If you want to see real cheap shots, check out the rest of the GIFs in this thread of Murray getting speared in the back/blind side leveled.
If Franklin doesn't want to hit the turf, he needs to get rid of the ball quicker.

From your gif I don't see anything wrong with the hit.

Missery fans are starting to act like UF fans. They can't even win without crying. Fitting right in.

Damn but Mizzou has a bunch of crybabies, on and off the field evidently.
I don't know whether to continue laughing or continue to question whether or not they are going to survive football in this conference.

Andy Hill was on 810 AM radio this morning in KC. He said the SEC offices agreed the hits were a bit late.

I've seen dirtier hits in freeze tag. The player in front had momentum and pulls up with the contact. He didn't try to "drive Franklin into the turf." You clearly see his hands pull away, i.e. not grabbing Franklin. He was spinning after contact but his arms were lowered rather than wrapping Franklin up. It's impossible to see what his hands are doing, at least from that GIF. Nothing about Franklin's motion couldn't be explained by being slammed between two players...which brings us to the other guy. The player behind tackled him, yes, but that was a split second after Franklin got rid of the ball outside of his line of sight. I'm not sure some people know how hard it is for a 250 lb player to stop on a dime when it's questionable that he even knew the ball was gone.

the dawgs are a class act and a model program whose replication, both in ethics and performance, should be the goal of all SEC programs. Anyone that says otherwise is just jealous.
I'm aghast that Pinkel, as a 2nd year SEC coach, would question the dawgs or SEC refs.

apparently nobody explained the rules to the Missouri bunch. Ugay is consistently one of the top5 dirtiest teams year after year. to compound the problem they will be the biggest titty baby bitches on the planet when you get rough back. having explained the situation, it should have been flagged for a late hit but it doesnt seem like some planned effort to take out the qb.

Nah, Georgia beats nuns and puppies. But I'm aghast that Pinkel, a 22nd year head coach, still doesn't know the difference between a clean play and a dirty one. You'd think he'd have learned that at some point. If not in Missouri, at Toledo, at least, where they take their football seriously.

the reality of the situation is that the play was late but it was borderline to where it probably should be left alone. The refs in the Vandy game were worse and I'd imagine having his QB knocked out was frustrating enough that Pinkel is making a stink in hopes that down the road refs will taper the BS a little. Pinkle really has nothing to lose by doing it.

sigh...so much to learn about the politics of the SEC. there is an art to surviving and even being successful in this league if your name isnt bammer or ugay to a lesser degree. poking the bear in protest of the protected aint the best idea.

Why does it matter? You post like Mizzou has a chance to win something in this league. Screw the politics, it won't matter for Mizzou.

It wasn't "borderline".... not even close.

There's no stink and nobody will give it a 2nd thought in future games; Pinkel loses credibility by whining about a non issue.
Do it enough and the folks on the field will tune him out. Just as officials get rated by coaches, know that the officials do the same for coaches.
