Meh, maybe. Look, Bama's gonna have underachievers/busts too. We just haven't had that many because we weren't signing that many 5* players. I firmly believe that Tyler Love is going to be an outright bust. Williams is just an underachiever.

he'll be an NFL RB next year

He'll get picked in a later round.

Davenport, Randle, Shepard, and Loston will be great players for LSU too.

Maybe, but I'll bet 2/4 will be busts or underachievers. Let's see them do something on a college field first. This goes for guys like Trent Richardson and Nico Johnson too.

doubtful.. if not for the system he plays in where our power backs carry majority of the load, he'd be the starter.. he'll have a Joe Addai type draft

He was close. I'm inclined to give him a pass because he might've been able to do it without the injury.

Do what? Be a fricking badass for 4 years? Oh wait...he did that.

He burns the frick outta Arenas, too. Watch closely.

Are you serious? He was a 5* player coming out and he's basically been a career back up.

Because Les prefers big bruisers like Charles Scott. Keiland has made play after play at LSU. He and CS are one of the best 1-2 tandems in the country.

If anything, this just shows that Charles Scott should have also been a 5*. USC wanted both of them...badly.

Bad arse? Hardly. I've already said I give him a pass because of injury. He could've been a bad arse his senior year but he got hurt.

04 18r/257y
05 26r/389y
06 59r/772y
07 57r/525y

The stats say he wasn't a bad arse, just a good player.

No, I just hate recruiting hype. It's gotten way out of hand. Keiland Williams is an underachiever according to recruiting hype. It's gonna happen at Bama too. I don't have anything against Keiland Williams. He's not an outright bust.

Well then you weren't watching.

Point 1:

LSU had co-badasses Bowe and Davis. This limited Doucet's PT and stats.

Point 2:

Doucet still made a ton of BIG plays during that period.

Point 3:

Doucet WAS the man his senior year DESPITE being injured and STILL schooled the frick outta Bama and Ohio State.

Point 4:

Doucet would have been drafted much much higher had he not been injured. He is currently competing on a very talented depth chart at Arizona.

Surprisingly, I am going to be more on Mr Papadopoulos' side than I would have expected (or my fellow Tiger fans almost ever are).

I totally disagree with your comments about Doucet, I think TxTiger covered that well in his explanation.

I do agree that Keiland has been a bit of a disppointment for the hype he had coming out as a 5 star recruit. Very good player that has had a few HUGE plays (VA TECH, and swing pass vs AU, etc), but th consistency has lacked (please don't start the argument that he hasn't had enough touches to be consistent).

T. Tolliver hasn't had time to prove himself. This year will be telling.

Al Woods has been a college bust, but may go high in the NFL draft.

Dorsey and C. Scott were high 4 stars, not 5s.

Peterson looks to be the brightest CB prospect since Champ Bailey--just as advertised.

Chad Jones will fnally pla his true position. Not much doubt that he is a superstar.

Rueben Randle has everything--he's at the level of Julio and AJ. I could care less he hasn't played a down yet--some guys are just can't miss.

RS has speed and moves, but he could by a rare chance be a bust so I won't make the same claim as I did on RR. I still think he will at worst, be a very solid college player.

Chris Davenport could be a bust. Time will tell.

Loston is s good a safey prspect TX has had in years. He has everything you want.

That just about covers recent 5 star players.
------------
Trent Richardson and Nico Johnson are locks to be amazing college players IMO.

Both have it all.

Not many LSU fans willing to say that type of thing, eh?

Lynx, your level-headedness is undesirable in college football discussions.

Kindly GTFO.

TIA.

I agree with the whole statement except for two things.

quote:

Chris Davenport could be a bust. Time will tell.

Or, he could be a f#cking manchild. Time will tell

quote:

Rueben Randle has everything--he's at the level of Julio and AJ. I could care less he hasn't played a down yet--some guys are just can't miss.

This could get me flamed so let me explain; I agree that Randle is can't miss. I think he has all the tools to be the best WR in the SEC one day.... However, I think Julio's ceiling is higher. No knock on Randle whatsoever, i just think Julio might be the best WR prospect I have ever seen.

All that said, I realize you are one of the "recruiting gurus" and probably watch a shite ton more prospect film than I do, which is why you are a main contributor on the Recruiting Board and I just read it. I just can't shake the feeling that Julio can be as good as anyone on the planet.

I am not as high on Davenport as some are just due to leverage issues. I've heard some great reports from the summer so I am optimistic. If he doesn't pan out at DT, I think he could be yet another OL that shines under the Miles era.

I don't have any concerns that he will be a very good player, but I don't know what side of the ball.

I agree with what you are saying with Julio. Physically he was a freak coming in as a freshman and has all the tools you want.

I was by no means trying to say RR will be better than JJ or vice versa. I think they will both be tremendous players--to the point where no one can argue for or against until their college years are done.
