I don't want more games against Louisiana-Monroe. If it costs us a playoff spot, then tough shite, we weren't good enough.
That's not the point, we went to 9 conference games yet we didn't get an increase in our TV contract.

how do you know that?

because we didn't. Had we had an increase, there would have been a media release about it. All but one of our schools are state entities. Our schools can't just enter into new contracts with networks and nobody know about it

so a majority of university presidents/ADs voted to do it for free? And we're blaming Sankey for that?

The playoff committee needs to come out this year strongly endorsing P4 matchups by not considering G5 games at all. If you’re 10-2 w 3 G5 wins your 7-2 in the eyes of the committee.

what do you think Sankey's job is?
Let me help you. His role is effectively the CEO of the SEC. His job is to negotiate TV rights and oversee partnerships with the networks. He also manages the conference revenue distribution and oversees the budget and financial strategy of the league. He then sells these ideas to the ADs and university presidents. So yeah, negotiating TV rights is literally his job

his job is to do what the schools tell him to do. he's a figurehead. he can't wave a magic wand and add a ninth conference game. the schools vote and he executes their decisions. if they thought he was doing a bad job, he would be fired.
you're basically claiming that 16 university presidents didn't think to ask Sankey, "do we get more money for adding a ninth game?" before voting yes. that doesn't seem plausible to me.

Who gives a frick
It has never been more expensive to be a season ticket holder.
Fill that schedule up with real teams instead of G5 slop

I guess Sankey decided to take the bag and stab the SEC in the back.

Do you think an AD is just a figurehead? Since he has a board of trustees and a university president that has to vote on and/or approve anything he wants to do when it comes to hiring/firing coaches, among other things, the AD doesn't really do anything does he? So why should we as fans ever say the AD sucks if others at the university are who voted to do whatever he suggested they do?
What Sankey did was sell a bill of good to the university presidents, it wasn't to the benefit of the league, financially or competitively. How he presented it to the league presidents is a great question. Neither you nor I were there. But what we do know is the Big 10 does not require its members to play at least 1 P4 game OOC and we also know that their monetary compensation with the networks is greater than ours per school while playing fewer P4 games.

yes. they handle hiring for nonrevenue sports no one gives a shite about, but for everything else, they're a messenger boy.
an AD's real job is to be the fall guy when the boosters frick up and hire the wrong football coach. that's why they continuously fail upwards.
