The ACC was 1 of 3 power 5 conferences that voted against having a 12 team playoff this year.

Again, none of this happened.

Could the 12 team playoff have started this year sans the Alliance?

Maybe

However, the ACC did not "vote against having a 12 team playoff this year" because no such vote ever took place.

While you may be correct technically, the article does quote Sankey as saying the possibility was there, yet the ACC was opposed to it. That's the takeaway. They were adamantly opposed to expanding earlier.

Nine more months passed before CFP board chair and Mississippi State president Mark Keenum gathered the CFP presidential board together to lead the passage of the expanded playoff — the very same playoff model that had been introduced 16 months before.

Now try reading my comment again:

I'm saying the article isn't presenting the story accurately.

It says the second vote was based on the same model that was voted on the first time, that's incorrect.

Then provide evidence that refutes the article.

FSU needs to blame Georgia. If Georgia wins, FSU is a shoo in at 4!

With a Georgia win, FSU still gets jumped by Texas for 4th spot

Again...the main point is that the ACC was against expanding earlier.

That's the whole point.

Whatever vote may or may not have happened, and what the other members of the Alliance may or may not have favored, the bottom line is that the ACC was against the solution that would have ended up putting FSU in the playoffs this year. That's why we don't give a shite about them bitching today.

They weren't necessarily against playoff expansion itself.

They saw the SEC and B1G trying to build a two league system and were simply trying to keep their own conferences relevant.

Saying they were against playoff expansion is akin to saying a senator is against children because he votes in opposition to a massive foreign spending bill with $500k earmarked for education.

I don't even like FSU, I would probably cheer for Alabama over FSU head to head but it's dumb to say this is the university or the conference's fault.

Both Alabama and FSU had legitimate arguments and FSU ends up holding the short end of the stick.

No one said they were against expansion. They were against expanding before 2024.

That's the point. Expand this year and they're in. They were opposed to that.

FSU had the chance to join the SEC in 1992.... but thought better of it.

They weren't necessarily against early expansion.

There was a lot of distrust, especially towards the SEC and B1G, and they couldn't get the various issues ironed out.

It isn't that the ACC was simply against expanding to a 12 team playoff in 2023.

They literally voted against it.

It's pretty clear that the complexities of the issue are a bit over your head.

I was going to say they should blame the ACC for yielding them a shitty strength of schedule. In particular Clemson, Miami, and Louisville.

You made the claim the article is incorrect. You have yet to provide any evidence to the contrary.
