You have got to be kidding me. The crime had gotten too much pub for them not to pursue the guy and bring him justice. The outcome of the game had nothing to do with it.

A two year sentence strikes me as excessive but its not easy to summon sympathy for Dowling after learning he is in his 30s.

This thread is not about Hill. Nor is it about some uninformed LSU fan.
It is not even about even application of law and punishment. None of us are so naive as to believe that exists. I've said it already...one need not worry about the sentencing guidelines if one keeps himself from being SENTENCED!

Didn't Jefferson kick the crap out of a guy while he was on the floor? That is assault and battery which is a felony. According to some on here he should have gone to jail for at least two years. Of course this is different.
No one is saying that the guy wasn't wrong but there are alot worse crimes that occur and no one goes to jail. This was about the D.A. getting re-elected.

Bingo.
Jefferson deserved jail time. Teabagger deserved jail time, just not 2 years. Maybe 3 months or something. One received jail time, one didn't. One was LSU, one wasn't. I think we see the problem here.
