Officially the job has not been offered to [Mike] Haywood - officially - but he is in Pittsburgh and from everything I can tell based on who I have talked to this morning, he is the first candidate that has actually been brought to campus and it is likely he is now fully in the crosshairs of this thing.

Two things... that's alot of HC's coming from the Saban tree. And that likely leaves Sunseri at Bama, unless a DC position opens up for him somewhere else this year.

We don't know how good Saban's will turn out to be yet.

this. But I think it'll turn out that it'll be Saban, just for the fact that the turnover is alot greater in today's coaching world than it was during Bear's time.

Damn you're old

The first LSU-Bama game I remember is the 1993 game. LSU leads 10-8 since then

actually I don't think MH is part of the Saban tree.

He started at LSU under Gerry D, 1995.

Left LSU after 02 to go to Texas so he is really more of a DiNardo tree guy IMO, seeing as how he spent more time with Gerry than any other head coach

Schellenberger and Stallings were the only two who ended up having great careers. I guess you can count Charlie Mac who played under Bear at Kentucky but never coached for him.

Dinardo actually hired him but Saban kept him on when no Mich St guys came with him, he needed Haywood for recruiting to keep the guys in the class he had.

Heywood was the one hold over from DiNardo's squad. Wouldn't really call him a Saban protege' since he was only with Saban three years after already being in Baton Rouge for 5 yrs.

It would be like calling Muschamp a "Tuberville protege" .
