fwiw.. and this is with ANY college.... there are some college grads who are nowhere near the fan as some who haven't gone to the schools they pull for. Some do more to support the University's than some grads do. So to try and play it out that some folks are more deserving of fandom is kinda dumb. (With the exception of available perks to alumni).

My whole point is that most grads know what it's like to having their alma mater made fun of. I wouldn't dare disrespect any other program. Doing that to my face is like making fun of my Mother. LSU is a large part of my life and I had the greatest time of my life there. I don't think that people who did not attend know that feeling. They may have strong ties to teh University and be great fans, but they don't hav ethe same type of passion. Their passion is similar to the NFL fan's passion. That's all it is; a football team. If the University art school suddenly disappeared, do you think they would care?

I don't mind kidding around with someone about LSU sports against Bama's or having a rational football discussion. But when you say disrespectful statements it's very different.

And for the most part, whenever I've heard shite like that, it comes from not attendees.

So basically.. you're just saying...

your fandom > other peoples because you went to your school vs growing up a lifelong fan?

Good arrogance there.

I don't care if people make fun of my alma mater or my mother. Why does that matter?

You're just flat out wrong on the passion thing.

Some people put football in front of real life. Some people don't. It doesn't matter if you're a grad or not.

If I cared about my alma mater, then I'd be putting up a million Case Keenum for Heisman posts.

Wow, you completely misinterpreted what I said. Go back and read it. I said that our passion is different.

Never said one was better, just different.

Sorry, I disagree. The passion of the two fans is different. Not saying one is better or worse.

And besides, I didn't start this thread to bash people on here. It was simply a poll. I was curious.

So you're saying that a life long fan can't have the passion of someone who attended some classes on campus?

It sounds like you are saying if you attended the school you root for, you are a better fan and other folks are 2nd tier. And fans who didn't go to a certain school they choose for are the ones who flame and say disrespectful things. Fans are fans, no matter where they went to school of even if they didn't. Some are good, some are bad and that's about the extent of it.

NO, some may have it. Just because a persons type of passion is different doesn't make it better.

For the most part, I've found non attendees to be more disrespectful. However, fans are fans and you'll always have a bad bunch. I may be wrong, but that's the impression I've got.

There are not two tiers of fans. Just two types on equal footings.

I just have a hard time believing you're a real fan since you live in Tulsa. Anyone who went to a school can be a fan but I think true fans live near their school. You just can't have the same passion living away from the school.

This is where you are wrong. The leap you make in this one sentence is what is wrong with your argument. The ONLY thing that separates you from the people who are fans of that school is your degree and education. That's it. I dare say if you ran across one of those LSU fanatics that didn't not go to school there and you said the same thing you just posted, it would be EXACTLY like you were insulting their mother. And I have a strong suspicion they would defend their "mother's" good name very passionately, if you know what I mean.

OK, but that's not even close to being logical. However, you are entitled to your opinion.

We are having an adult discussion here, and you are misinterpreting what I'm saying.

Maybe so, but I would never say somehting like that. They can have the same emotions like anger when someone disrespects them. Hell, they are human. But it may not "hurt" in the same way. They can probably beat someone's arse and forget about it that night.

Well.. you stated how insulted everyone who didn't go to Lsu was with the thread. Doesn't that in some way show that they are as offended as you? Wouldn't that make them just as passionate about Lsu as you?

You're too amused with arguing that you can't understand what I'm saying.

People jump to the worst conclusion when they think of why I'm asking the question.

It's the same type of logic you're using.

You're saying you can't have the same type of passion if you didn't attend the Uni.

I'm saying you can't have the same type of passion if you don't live near it.

Both statements are equally silly.

You have no reason or logic behind it except for that is how you feel. So when you speak of having a logical discussion, then use logic instead of citing how you feel. Every argument is based on your experience and how college had an impact on you. If you look at the bigger picture, then your argument wouldn't seem so flawed.
