knowing that his family has it hard, doesn't the kid get a pell grant yearly?

That's what a little over 5 Grand? On top of that Stipends and extra money that scholarship athletes get for travel, food etc. (If I'm wrong correct me)

I'm not saying this is good, but with this money he gets he can pay off the "fine".

I'm not going to sit here and defend the NCAA at all, but this program needs to be shut down if it's going to get kids in trouble.

Agree with this.

This is all to sketchy. We have a guy involved too, Spurrier said tonight the NCAA is getting back to him tomorrow.

Not that they are steering recruits, but they take donations to fund their company, yet they don't have the certifications so that these donations to the company can be Tax Refundable.

and if we are cheating, it's about damn time dammit.

I want a frickin SEC and National championship already.

By the time our lawyers get done with USC we'll change the name to The University of Florida, Columbia Campus.

SC alums.

Seriously though. Those guys running the "charity" need to be flogged.

Ya these guys don't know what they're doing.

They think they're helping kids, which in a way they are but at the same time they aren't doing it right and getting kids in trouble

They may have had good intentions but it seems like you would check with the NCAA and IRS and chit like that before you go messing with amateur athletes and creating/running a "charity". I guess that's too obvious.

Do they have Facebook?

NCAA is ridiculous and a joke. They need to stay out of affairs like these. Jacory Harris got one game for being involved in the Shapiro scandal, but this kid sends his grandma some of his pell grant money and gets two games. Wow, how screwed up is the NCAA. They have no consistency in their judgements. Seems like if your name isn't Cam Newton you won't get any leeway with the NCAA.

No, he got $2700 in improper benefits.

Not why he is suspended.

A "charity" run by SCar alums paid for some recruiting visits and some 7-7 camp trips.

Joe Schad tweeted that this "charity" was featured on Outside the Lines. I have no idea when.

Here's their Site
LINK

The VP of the company is Damiere Byrd's father.

Basically for us they're trying to find out if they paid for Byrd as well or if Byrd's father paid for his trips. (Which has been said he did?)

They are also trying to find out if the Treasurer and/or President have donated to the school (making them boosters), because if they have then just associating with them like this is against the rules (Even if the kids dad is the VP of the company)

I guess we have to prove that there is a past relationship

Allegedly the president of this organization plead with the NCAA to clarify the rules where there were grey areas (this is a few years ago), and they essentially told him to screw off.

Source is the local sports station, where the host who made this statement is allegedly a journalist.

Damiere Byrd got 4 games.

I'd assume it was 2 more because the guy was found out to be a Booster.

such bullshite, Byrd and Floyd got screwed by the NCAA. It says they got impermissible benefits, but doesn't list what those were. Are they really suspending them multiple games for getting free tutoring and rides? Oh and I love how it says Byrd went to "parties hosted by a booster" trying to make it look like the Miami case, when he really went to the Philly Alumni Association's viewing parties, where the most he was probably given was free food and drink.

And before anyone says it, I'm aware that I am hardcore right now

Didn't the Miami player who received the 6 game suspension only have to pay back about $1400? It seems that the NCAA made the Miami players sit out games based on the amount they had taken in extra benefits, yet Floyd gets only 2 games for taking more money than all of them. Of course, RS got no money, and only talked to his cousin, and he gets punished 3 games.

Also interesting to note that only one Miami player, the one with the 6 game suspension, will miss a conference game; Floyd will not miss a conference game; yet RS's infraction was so serious he misses not only a game against a top 5 opponent, but also a conference game against a top 20 opponent.

RS--Next time there is any sort of issue with the NCAA, just take the $, hookers, etc. and keep your mouth shut. Obviously, talking about an investigation is much more serious to the NCAA than taking impermissable benefits.
