re: On this date in 1982 LSU had one its best wins in beating Alabama, 20-10

At that time, I knew a guy whose mom grew up with Bear Bryant and was still really close to him. Apparently they remained close friends and talked on the phone regularly.
We knew Bear was going to retire before it was announced because he had told my friends mom when he decided it was time.
My friend told us that Bear told his mom something like “football is all I have ever known and wanted to do, I don’t know if I can survive without it….I’ll probably be dead in a few weeks.”
It was bizarre when they announced Bear had died 6 weeks later.

I have a good friend that did this. He was a dad to his stepdaughter since she was little. However her POS biological dad would not allow an adoption even though he really wanted nothing to do with her.
On her 18th birthday she asked my friend to adopt her which he joyfully agreed to do. Bio dad couldn’t say anything because she was an adult.
Dad and daughter have a tremendous relationship.

As many have said, the document can be styled as a sale (cash sale or sale with mortgage) or a donation. A donation must be done before a notary and two witnesses. A sale can be done between the parties as long as the seller appears before a notary at some point after the sale to acknowledge their signature.
Regardless of the form of the transaction it must be in writing and re to be effective against third parties.
The bigger issue is making sure all interest owners are identified. If you have a JOP from the succession of the owner, that is a good place to start. If your mom is the sole heir then she can sell or donate the entirety of the property. If there are other heirs on the JOP then a deed from mom would only transfer her share of the property.
Get a property lawyer to help make sure everything is done correctly.

First cousin means you share one set of grandparents. One of your parents is brother or sister to one of your first cousins parents. Second cousins share one set of great grandparents.
The “once removed “ stuff looks at generations. If your first cousin has a child they are your “first cousin once removed “. They aren’t your first cousin because the connection between you is that your grandparents are their great grandparents. But they aren’t your second cousin either because you don’t share great grandparents. They would be second cousins with your kids, but not you. Since they are a generation younger than your first cousins they are called first cousins once removed.
To answer your question, your first cousin twice removed would describe the relationship between you and your first cousin’s grandchild. That would not only be very creepy but I would guess illegal in most instances.

re: Last play of game for Clemson
Posted by CovingtonTiger on 9/3/25 at 8:43 pm to Paulburbank
When I saw the play live, I was concerned that the refs might flag Perkins on that play. It looked like Perkins had grazed Klubnik’s face mask on the play. It was nothing serious, but with the way the officiating had gone completely in Clemson’s favor, and considering it was their last chance to tie the game, I was nervous the refs would call a blow to the head. Klubnik lobbied for it a little, I think.
re: Bower’s fumble should have been called a targeting
Posted by CovingtonTiger on 8/31/25 at 8:04 pm to Ruston Trombone
I don’t think that was the play where, but there was one where the Clemson defender speared the receiver and ended up going down immediately. He was down for a while and they came out and helped him off the field. He looked concussed.
I thought that spearing was now called targeting no matter where you hit the other player or if he was defenseless or not. The idea is to protect the defensive player from his own mistakes. All of those should at least be a personal foul.

With all the other calls that went against LSU last night, I was frankly surprised that they didn’t call roughing the passer on Perkins on the final fourth down play.
It looked like Perkins grazed Klubnik’s facemask just after he threw the ball. I think Klubnik was asking for the flag but, thankfully, didn’t get it.

There are some specific statutes in Louisiana which may limit the liability of the owners because it is a recreational area open to the public.

Sort of off topic, but the video reminds me of how thankful I am for Coach O and the spectacular 2019 football team.
My mom was an absolutely dyed in purple and gold LSU fan, especially for football. In late 2018 she developed memory issues so we moved her from her home to a facility near us. I would go watch the games with her in her room every Saturday and she thought “Joe Burrows” hung the moon. Seeing her so excited about the team that year is something I will always treasure.
She passed just prior to the 2020 season so her last football memories were of the greatest college team ever.
Thanks to everyone involved with that extra special season.

I don’t think this was that uncommon back in the day. From what I was told, many schools on the schedule had small stadiums and didn’t draw large numbers of fans, even for larger schools. They made more $ from the visitors cut for a game at LSU than they made hosting the games so they agreed to play at LSU .
IIRC there was a similar arrangement with FSU during the late 70’s - early 80’s

IMHO the 3 year expectation rule is outdated. I know that is what BK said, but NIL and the open transfer portal have completely changed college football.
Prior to the rule changes, by year 3 the majority of the players on a team were recruited by the HC and been in the system for 2-3 years. Because of that, the coaches could install their systems and create a team culture.
Now you must re-recruit your players every year and go to the transfer portal to fill any holes. For BK, the roster was so thin when he got here that he has had to rely heavily on the portal players. That makes it difficult to really establish the identity of the team. I know some teams have done a great job of continuing success but I think it is unrealistic to expect BK to re-establish a winning tradition in such a short time.

I remember the time when DTL was terrorizing BR very well. I was working out of town and my wife and kids were scared to be alone.
One of DTL's victims was the mother of a boy in my sons class and cub scout den. They were pretty close friends and it really shook up my kid, who was about 7-8 at the time. In fact, he refused to go to any sort of summer camp for a couple of years because the murder happened while his friend was away at camp.

I moved by Ego batteries indoors to keep them cool, but I still keep them on the charger most of the time. After reading this thread, am I correct in assuming that the fire hazard is caused by the internal short of the battery, so that it doesn't matter (as far as fire potential) whether the battery is stored inside in a temperature controlled environment or outside in the garage?
Obviously, the first thing I am going to do when I get home is remove the batteries from the chargers. If it makes no difference in the fire potential, I want to move them back into the garage as well so if there is a fire I might have a small chance to contain the fire.

Unfortunately, this abuse is not all that uncommon. I knew someone who worked at one of the hospitals in downtown New Orleans that said that people would frequently call for an ambulance, get transported to the hospital, leave the hospital before they could be evaluated, and then go shopping downtown. They simply used ambulances as free transportation into town.

I have a friend who had a pit for about 6 years without any signs of aggression or malice toward anyone. Last year, they were watching their grandson (I think he was about 3-4 years old). The kid and the dog were playing together but the dog suddenly turned and bit the little boy in the side of the face. No warning, no reason for the attack. Kid had to get his ear sewn back together and some stiches in the face. Luckily, he is fine and just has a small scar.
My friend DOA'd the dog as soon as they got back from ER.

re: Was the ninth inning delay about Brown leaving early from second?
Posted by CovingtonTiger on 5/24/24 at 2:04 pm to geauxfortwo
I think Brown seemed to get to third quickly for a couple of reasons. 1. He is fast and was running full speed expecting a strong throw. 2. The fly ball was so deep that, instead of being able to catch it with his momentum going toward third base, the left fielder was falling away against the fence. Consequently, he had to gather himself, set his feet, and then throw without really being able to put his body behind it. All in all, I think the left fielder did a good job in getting it in, but all of these things took extra time so it created sort of an optical illusion that Brown got to the bag quicker than normal.

Best AB I ever saw at any level was in HS in the divisional championship game. Late innings, 2 out, bases loaded. The batter (my teammate) fouled off pitch after pitch. Total of 28 pitches during the AB. Ended with the hitter going yard over the CF fence.
