Scoop, I think that is the point of this formation.

Urban clearly thinks that our DBs can handle man coverage. And our LBs our much better in coverage this year than Stamper and Spikes.

It is susceptible to the big play. But you've got to hit it. And UFs DBs are pretty solid in case you haven't noticed.

You have to pick your poison. YOu have no chance to beat Alabama if you can't stop the run.

But you do have a chance to beat McElroy if the running game isn't backing him up.

Your 5-2 looks a lot like our 3-4 personnel wise.

Pound for Pound anyways

Upshaw, Murphy, Dareus, Chapman, Sentimore/Hightower

That seems pretty legit.

Bama isn't the type of team to just see that and shy away from the run though. The likely response is "cool...you got a beefy DL...let's see how long they can take us beating on them."

Its 4 quarters of play. Even if the 5-2 stops the run game the 1st qtr...or even the 2nd qtr...there's another half to continue pounding on them.

It's going to be a case of who breaks who's will. Don't be surprised if Bama doesn't start lining Carpenter up next to Fluker and dropping Motley in as an additional TE with Williams/Dial as a flexed TE or HB. That is a lot of meat to run behind, and give the ball to Trent who already demands a lot from defenses to bring him down and you got a system that can push even the best front 7 to their limits.

Not saying Bama is unstoppable, and not saying that lineup won't have some success against the run game. Just saying Saban likely won't shy away from what Bama does best just because UF has designed a "special front" to counter Bama's bruising ground game.

Don't you know LSU is going to win the Defensive Secondary National Championship?

Ok. Thanks for all you brought to this thread, however I think you should maybe take up coaching in the NFL and get off the boards, cause your expertise in this sport is beyond our comprehension.

See that's what I'm saying. I think in a perfect world for Urban Meyer, Alabama won't be able to run consistently this Saturday and they'll have to win in the air.

They could still easily win that way, but I think he would rather see that, then see Alabama put up 250 rushing yards like in the SECCG last year.

I think Howard weighing 300+ is like Joe Haden's 4.3 40-yd dash time.
I thought the strength of UF's DL last year was in their DEs (Cunningham & Dunlap). Wasn't overly impressed with their DTs.I know they recruited a stud DL class this year, but they are freshman. I like our OL vs their DL,no matter what alignment they are in.
Their secondary is tough. J. Jenkins is a horse. Hill and Black are tough. I think their DBs vs our WRs is a better match-up for them than their DL vs our OL.

It was until Dunlap thought it would be a great idea to get FUBAR during SECCG week and then pass out at a stoplight.

I agree. The match up still favors Alabama. But that's why you have to game plan around it.

That being said, it'll still be the best front that Bama sees all year in SEC play.

Do you think we are better than LSU up front? Cause they look pretty beastly to me.
