I wouldn't. I'm tired of it. In the last few years I've gone to Tempe, Stillwater, and Boulder to see Georgia play. Yeah it was fun, got some nice pictures, but I'd much rather play podunk state in Athens, get the easy win, and sleep that night in my bed. Not to mention save some coin.

If McGarity follows the UF model, yall will no longer play OOC games outside of Georgia either. You will get your wish.

He's already started. Us and Oregon mutually canceled our series and we dropped our home/home with Louisville (although that was to get Boise). The only unique matchup we have left for the future is Clemson in 12/13.

Florida

true. I'm glad LSU doesn't follow this model. We play Oregon next year in Dallas at JerryWorld and West Virginia in Morgantown. Props to our AD Joe Alleva for stepping up to the plate.

If I were a Gator fan, I would like to see my team play a big OOC game out of state home and home or at a neutral site. Who wouldn't want to see Florida take on Michigan, Nebraska, etc...

That's what meaningless bowl games are for.

Well, considering I live in Dallas, it may be a shorter flight if we played somewhere else than UF or in the state of Florida all the time. However, I put the team first, and it's to their advantage to play in the state most of the time.

In the 80's I remember a Florida/USC Trojans home and home that was very big for your program at the time. That was pre Jeremy Foley.

That was actually pre-giveafudgeaboutthebottomline.

It is what it is and we aren't giving up a home game. PERIOD!

Most of us wouldn't mind giving up FSU but that is not happening.

What???

Everyone I know would be really upset if we dropped FSU. That's a HUGE game for us.

Check out the SWC days. Texas played all 11+Bowl in the state of Texas in 1980 and 1982. The only out of state games they played in 1981 and 1983 were at Arkansas. That includes the Bluebonnet Bowl (Houston), the Sun Bowl (El Paso), and two Cotton Bowls (Dallas). 48 games, only two outside of Texas.

Texas A&M played all their games in Texas in 1983, SMU played all their games in 1982 in Texas, etc...

I wouldn't really care. We could have a six year rotation with FSU, Miami, and some big name team we don't normally play, all home and away. That'd be interesting. But it will never happen.

But there is no reason we should upgrade our strength of schedule. We usually play one of the toughest schedules in the country. The state of Florida thing is just a quirk due to playing UGA in Jax and playing an in-state OOC rival every year. And when we do pick up an extra big name opponent, it's Miami.

I almost wish we would drop f$u and scUm permanently and only play shitty cupcake OOC opponents every year in order to piss everybody off and have an easier path to tMNC. maybe then everybody else in the country would follow suit and we would finally have a playoff system

This year Texas only played 2 of 12 games outside of Texas, at Kansas State and Nebraska.

From 1929 to 1940, Fordham played 85 games in New York and 17 games outside of New York.

Check out Fordham's games from the 1930's and you'll notice that there was a 2.5 year stretch where they didn't even leave the City (Randall's Island, NY, is part of the Borough of Manhattan).

In 1933, LSU never left Louisiana. Seven of their ten games were at Tiger Stadium; they played Arkansas in Shreveport, Mississippi State in Monroe, and Tulane in New Orleans.

Other seasons where LSU never left the state:
1893 1895 1897 1898 1901 1904 1905 1933

1982
1980
1978
1972
1970
1968
1966

(Ok, I stopped feeling like looking... )
