We went to kickoff classic vs FSU at the old Giants stadium back in late 90s. Yankee stadium a night or two later to see Yanks vs Mariners. Griffey hit an upper deck dinger.
Nice trip.

Neutral site games suck. Play home and home

There has to be something where coaches hate fully away games more than two 50/50s.
I can sort of get it.

My guess is there going to pick a college bball arena between Texas and Florida. Nashville would be cool. Now that I think about it, it is odd to not be home and home.

Years ago I talked to a coach at the SPI invitational, an early season tournament (defunct now). Not even held in an arena, they played at SPI convention center.
Very low attendance. I couldn’t figure out what was in it for them other than a quick trip to SPI.
I can’t remember his full explanation, but he explained that big programs don’t like playing away games at big programs. I think he even said it cost them money to play in the tournament. But he said it was the best way to get meaningful games.
I think the teams paying to play was how the tournament was financed. These things were first come first served on seats. I sat courtside for four games for $40 a night. Just nobody there. But you pay to play in an empty convention hall because you get 2-3 RPI boosters in 2-3 days.

I’m fairly sure we played a Big 10 team at a different Big 10 team’s area or something like that this year. I don’t recall if it was a tourney, but the announcer said it gave them home field advantage being closer to their schools.
I think the game I’m thinking about it Purdue. We played them Gainbridge Fieldhouse (Home of the Pacers). I’m fairly sure it will probably be in a centrally located college arena or NBA arena again. Would not be surprised to play at the Toyota Center either bc they can get a lot of Ags there.

This is a basketball series, not a football series. This isn’t even newsworthy
Agreed. OP should have mentioned that little fact.

Why a neutral site?
$$$
UF and UGA are getting roughly $9 million EACH just for the 2026 game alone in Atlanta (2027 game will be in Tampa).
