Um, UF beating two top teams in the West Kinda does
Kinda doesn’t. The point is, by definition, your Tebow years are an outlier.
At best, you have a much higher floor than Ole Miss in recent history. You are not an elite program.

The 12 team playoff pretty much killed the value of coaching at Texas or Florida. Every team in the SEC is capable of making the playoffs once every 5 years so why would a coach want to sacrifice 20% of his money to be in Austin or Gainesville?

They are 21st and 22nd while Florida is 12th. And the gap between them is extremely narrow.
And if you look at our first few years of NIL/Portal compared to before, you can see the massive positive impact for Mizzou:
Exactly.
Mizzou has put together a pretty good run lately, it could be argued that this is their ceiling.

I don't think Drink goes to a program that fires the coach after contending for a natty, making the CFPO & having recent success. If Drink was at PSU with his recent record at MIzzou, he'd be fired too. Drink owns Missouri, has 2 big metro areas with lots of talent to recruit, has buy-in from the University & boosters, has up & coming facilities (already has nice facilities presently) & has full control of the program. There is a lot to say for him staying at Mizzou. He owns the place. Why start over & risk getting fired in a few years if he doesn't turn it around fast enough for their fans & administration?
I don't think he's leaving. I'm just ranking the attractiveness of the job.
Pedo State gave Franklin 12 years and JoePa had a lifetime.

Agreed job stability plus a much easiest conference makes Pedo St a better job.

After Franklin's success there, they still shitcanned him.
C'mon man.
And they were all close losses.
It feels like there's something else in play in his firing.

How do you know what the future holds? You got a crystal ball?
Nobody knows where this is going. One thing I can assure you, we ain't going back to the good ol' days. Parody is going to be the norm. They'll be "brand name" programs like OSU & Bama competing for Nattys, but now other schools can sneak in & steal one once in a while. In the past, there were only a handful of programs that could even sniff a natty.
Based on what?

I think your statement may have been accurate pre-NIL/portal. I think the future of CF is a wide-open free for all until new rules are enacted. I think even after that, the schools willing to spend the most, will win Natties.
The teams that are willing to spend the most have been spending the most for decades now...

UF literally has 3x the titles you have

This was the end of the discussion before NIL and the Portal. But now Mizzou and Ole Miss are stacked with talent as well. And both programs have fans who are willing to shell out cash to bring talent to Oxford and Columbia. Mizzou has its most talented team by composite in its history - and yes - credit to Drink, but the bigger factor is a potent NIL spend. High school recruiting grounds simply don’t matter as much as they used to in terms of assessing potential roster strength
"
Um, we have more five and four stars on our roster, so why are you having so much trouble getting them? Weird.

Cool. They hold the exact same relevance as the ones we don’t have in the current era of football.
You can keep clutching those dusty as shite trophies. They aren’t helping you win ballgames.

Completely irrelevant. Recruits will barely look back 10 years for history of a program. Ole Miss has been way more successful than Florida over the last 10 years.

Brent Keyes is the kind of coach Florida should be going after. The age of big schools stealing coaches from medium sized schools in conference are likely over

Did the trophies beat us? Or did our quarterback imploding beat us?
Do the trophies have magical powers that they only work for one big game a year? What happened the rest of the season? Did the trophies go on vacation for 5 weekends last fall?
