This is where you , and other hog fans who seem to 'get it' come off looking stupid. No one else thinks "flagship" refers to being the premier school in the league. The rest of us know what it actually means and after trying to explain it to seemingly ignorant hog fans, we're told we either have no sense of humor or are irritated.

That's not it at all. First, a joke should be funny. Second there has to be something to get.

But mostly, the joke seems to be that most fans of other teams, already thinking hog fans are dumb, are just trying to explain to them what "flagship" actually means.

Personally I thought Arkansas may have just been designated as the flagship university of the state, and most hog fans were just too stupid to realize what that means.

In the future if you want to make a joke about being the best program in the SEC, try one of these descriptors: finest, first, foremost, greatest, highest, incomparable, inimitable, leading, matchless, nonpareil, number 1, paramount, peerless, perfect, preeminent, premium, prime, primo, principal, sans pareil, second to none, super, supreme, tops, tough, unequaled, unparalleled, unrivaled, or unsurpassed, I think it may be a bit more effective.

Also keep these points in mind: inside jokes are better left 'inside', when sharing jokes with others, try for a little more humor, and remember, sarcasm isn't nearly as funny once you get past the age of 30 or so.

Most of us know exactly what flagship means in references to states, university system origins, monetary authority, and recently (and unfortunately) I've seen the term find it's way into state politics. It's just a joke, and nobody really cares who laughs or not. It's not meant to be a joke that transitions from fanbase to fanbase, it's just a couple if posters fricking around.

You seem to think TD is a bastion of truth an knowledge. TD did not spawn from the ashes of Alexandria like a phoenix.
