I was a well behaved child. Like you said it was probably pointless from a memory standpoint, but it started getting me acclimated to the scene and big crowds and such. I went to a game or 2 a year as a young'n but starting going to every home game at age 7. I've only missed 5 of them since.

just a waste of money to bring little kids to games.

I don't think so. I was 4 when I went to my first game. Most of my fondest childhood memories are from these games. I certainly don't remember a lot about them, but I do remember certain things (Kathryn Scott scaring the crap out of me with her whistle, Elephant Stomp walking beside Big Al, fireworks over Denny Chimes at Homecoming-wish we still did that!). When I was making my decision about colleges, it was these memories that really sealed the deal for me.

The first game I went to was Ole Miss vs Arkansas in little rock, the game that "the hit" occurred, I believe it was 1990, I was a baby though

Charlie Pell was coach of Florida when I attended my first game in Tiger Stadium. Can't remember the year.

1949 Southeastern Louisiana vs LSU. My dad was a student at SLC on the GI bill; we piled into our old Studabaker and drove over for that afternoon game.

1998, Ole Miss @ Arkansas. Arkansas won 34-0. It was freezing. And raining. It was miserable.

Good thing for LSU replay wasn't available for 37 more years. Would have been embarrassing to have been their one win that season.

wasn't 79 because UF won the game and UF went winless in 79. Had to be 1981. Wayne Peace was their QB.

First game I remember for certain was 1981, LSU vs. Florida State in Tiger Stadium.

Went to several games in '82 and '83... including against Oregon State and Washington... long before I had any idea where those schools were or that I'd be living near them one day. My lack of respect for the Pac 10 directly goes back to watching LSU beat the tar out of a top 10 Washington team in a year that we finished 4-7.

But Baton Rouge will always be my briar patch, LSU will always be my alma mater and Tiger Stadium will always be my Mecca.
