Patterson TCU
Malzahn OC at Auburn

Smart DC at Bama

If by top you mean alternating SEC titles with Alabama and Florida then the answer is any of the above. I think the best choice is Patterson.

Has there been a firing at LSU? Someone leave?

Yeah, I just mean one of the top teams each year.

Peterson.......occasionally win the West. LSU, nor anyone will be permanently entrenched at the top of the SEC for a long time.

Charlie Strong.
However, with all of the above I think you will be where you're now. Competing for the West every year, and participating in the SECCG every few years.
He took our BEST assistants with him to Louisville from our NC team. Billy G is already at LSU and Louisville has Mike Sanford who was Urban's OC at Utah. Strong, Bedford, and Carter are ridiculously good recruiters and coaches. I think the LSU staff would be ridiculous with Strong.

I wouldn't touch Del Rio. He's a good coach but he has no ties to the school and who knows if he can recruit(although that seems to take care of itself in Louisiana)
I personally think Patterson, then Pelini, then really anyone else but I'm not sure i'd want to give Malzahn his first run at HC. It could pay off or end really bad.

malzahn will get a really nice gig sooner or later, but i wouldn't want him before he gets some more experience as a HC. the vandy decision still baffles me.

I like Patterson and I like the Oregon guy.
