My point is they quit trying to go to the outside and tried to squat on a 21 point lead. It must have been the fact Cam was being contained and Saban thought they could just run their defense and pull out a win. Face it it's typical of Saban to do that. Doesn't mean I would trade him. He plays the game just like Gene Stallings.
Run the ball, stop the run, + in the turnover column, play sound special teams.
Sometimes when the "execution" ain't executing you have to adapt. They started out well but went into rollover mode.

Squatting on a 21 point lead would be running the ball and milking the clock. McElroy had somebody in his face almost the entire 2nd half. That's not from squatting on a lead. The screen passes finally got covered up. Why can't you people accept the idea that AU did a good job of shutting down our offense in the 2nd half?

I keep seeing people say this, but that's not the feeling i had at all. I wanted him to run it more. We kept dropping back to pass and Fairley kept coming right in and blowing things up. We tried to do the same things that worked in the first half (Fairley wasnt even on the field for most of it), but AU had adjusted. Its the same offense I bitched about last year (no one would listen, and rightfully so since we were winning). I need to go back and re-watch it, but in a game we were leading for the majority, I can't for the life of me figure out why we only ran it 20 times. We should prolly start a new thread for this convo and not hijack the finebaum thread
