think he's reflecting on how Saban was out coached, and there's no denying he was out coached badly in that game.

While Spurrier out coached him as well beating LSU 41-9 and 44-15 in 2000 and 2001, and Richt beat him 45-16 in fifth year, they all had equal or better teams.

In 2002, many expected LSU to contend for a NC in his third year. MAny thought VT was overrated. Many thought Saban was too good of a coach to lose to Beamer.

The game wasn't that close. VT fumbled on the 2
getting a safety and ended the game on the LSU 5.
VT beat the hell out of LSU that day.

Saban was throttled by a far less talented team
that day
, and completely out coached-- especially in the specical teams department. FWIW it was also
a bad day for Jimbo, who did nothing whatsoever
in the way of adjustments.

I totally disagree BT. Only delusional LSU fans expected us to contend for a title that year. We were only ranked #14, which was pretty much out of respect for our SEC title and Sugar Bowl birth in 01, and we lost Rohan, JReed, Trev, Howard Green, and Toefield was coming off of an ACL tear in the SECCG.

VT was ranked 16 and returned Lee Suggs and Kevin Jones, who were both NFL RBs in waiting to go along with a veteran D, always great special teams, and their returning starting QB in Bryan Randall. And we were on the road.

V Tech won 10 games that year and finished #14. They were 8-0 and in the top 5 at one point as well. You're right that the game wasn't as close as the score, but to say that LSU was clearly a better team is just wrong.

LSU had tons of question marks coming into that year, and getting beat by a good team on the road shouldn't have been that much of a surprise. Plus, don't forget the DD punt return TD that was called back that could have changed the game early on. LSU receivers also dropped something like 11 passes that day, which made it even harder for Mauck who was making his first start to get in any kind of rhythm.

The most disappointing and embarrassing games under Saban were games like Florida 03, UGA 04, Ole Miss 01, Bama and Auburn 02, UAB, Florida 01, and even Troy and Ole Miss in 04 which we won. V Tech doesn't even rank near any of those IMO.

Yes, you definitely went out on a limb by saying Florida is a GUARANTEED loss for us at our place. Once again, there are definitely no guaranteed losses in the SEC especially dealing with the top teams.

You were trolling, we get it. You pull this crap all the time.

Well I guess we have to disagree. After 2001 LSU lost 8 starters that year- 4 on either side of the line.

On offense TE Edwards and T Whitworth took over. QB was Mauck, who had experience . WRs? Michaeal Clayton, Devry Henderson, Jerel Meyers, Shy Carey...And forget about Toe... what about DDavis, who played ahead of Toe and ran wild against UT and Illinois the year before? and having Joe Addai as a backup?

For that matter, Toe played. Had a 15 yard run...
and then fumbled.

LSU had way more weapons on offense.

On defense? Bradie James, Damien James, Lionel Turner, Macus Spears, Marquis Hill, Jack Hunt,
Corey Webster... these are all off the top of my head. LSU also had more talent on defense.
Now there was that dude Demetrius Hookfin... heh.

LSU was easily as talented as VT on defense.

VT is a tough place to play, good for +5 points any day.

You're right that the game wasn't as close as the score/

It was 24-0 either late in the third or early in the 4th.

Shy Carey had two huge drops. One bobbled and intercepted, but we were already down two scores.

And there were many under Saban, I agree.

Well, based on the above, I guess we have to disagree, I think I made some valid points, as
you did. But we do agree about the overall point.Thanks.

It was definitely a bad performance, but we had so many young guys that hadn't played much before like Mauck, Spears (converted from TE), Henderson (converted from RB), Addai (floating from RB to WR and back), Turner, Webster (converted from WR), Whitworth (freshman), I just had a feeling we'd be in trouble that day against a veteran VT team on the road.

But definitely not a fun way to start the year.

The reason Finebaum hates LSU goes back when he was a writer in Shreveport. He was FIRED from his job there as since then he has a HATE for not only LSU but the whole state of Louisiana.

This remains to be seen. Saying "Crap QB" is about like saying he is a "Great QB". We just don't really know. But, considering the HS stats at a 5A TX school and what little we've seen of him at Alabama... I would not put my money on "crap QB".

You DO realize you're talking about a QB that's been the starter all of ONE season...in his entire career.

So for three years of high school, and three years of college, this guy has THE most awesome collection of bench splinters ever seen!

Yes he did. He's one for the ages: Remember how freaked out we were when LSU had that first 4th down and saw the alignment? Everyone was saying that funky punt formation would never work!

He's never had a punt blocked. Maybe one in 5 years.

This was a convincing moment for me with Les.
While certain posters still mock Miles, Les
showed how he's an excellent planner, and it showed against VT that night. Miles prepared for that game for weeks, as he prepares for any bowl game.

There's no debating that Beamer schooled Saban, and there's no debating that Miles schooled Beamer.

And there's no debating that Miles is 10x the coach a certain lucky person thinks.

Not that we care

Nail on the head.

Not only was he fired, no one else in Louisiana thought enough of him to hire him, and he attempted to file wrongful termination charges.
Once that got out, he was toast.

He was a fool then, a tool now. Everyone mocked him in NE La.Most still mock him now. Without the deluded and uneducated flock, he has nothing. The dude would flame out in 6 weeks in 48 other states, including Idaho.

Although he looks like a potato...

He's an average/slightly above average coach who benefited from a good situation. Now the division is stronger and Les Miles is gonna go Larry Coker on us. Just be happy he backed into that championship.

Who has always out performed Nick Saban, before or after LSU. His record was just as good at Michigan State, better than Saban's record at LSU, and will be better next year yet again.
Who has out recruited Nick Saban based on Rivals cumulative star rankings, over the last 4 years/

Who has beaten so mony more OOC teams compared to Saban, it's stupid.

We all know Saban is a decent coach. We all know Miles is too. You simply can't accept it, and you may have a heart attack if Miles beats Saban again this year, which is a very distinct possibility.

Something you haven't sniffed in a long, long time, and won't this year either.

Just remember. Saban won a NC in year three at LSU. He still hasn't won shite at Bama. And I'll give you 2 to 1 he won't this year either.

Lucky, the problem with you is you're all mouth.

Which does make sense- like I stated, I
honestly thought you were gay.
