frick yeah Spurrier criticized his DC and defense this year .... they sucked donkey balls.

.....and Auburn's didn't? I did not hear Gus criticize the D after the USCe game or the A&M game. Our D gave up an average of 39 points over the last six SEC games this year. Gus' thing is the O. His hands are all over the O. Again, Gus gives his DC free reign to run the D how the DC thinks is best. No micro-managing.

ETA I have also never heard Gus throw a player under the bus either. The same can't be said for Spurrier.

Gus is a new to this head coaching thing. To compare Gus' coaching philosophy (hands off approach to defense) after only two years in the SEC to that of Spurrier (micro-manager) is silly.

Who would have guessed hiring a fired HC as a DC would turn into such a glorified pissing match.

I will die laughing if he goes to the NFL.

Boom would be great for SC.

Boom would be great for Auburn.

Boom would have to take anti-depressants to live in College Station.

Bottom line, both SC and Auburn need competent defenses stat!

As of today, it is what it is. Gus allows his DC to do his thing freely. That may change in future years. Any coordinator would want to do things his way, IMO. Whoever Auburn's next DC is will be given that opportunity.
