Arkansas is infamous for Hootie and the Blowhards. Fortunately, they call Ole Miss home now.

For the Old Timers, Johnny Rivers is from BR, went to BR High; not sure if he ever went to LSU.

Florida - Tom Petty, Sister Hazel

Petty went to Gainesville High School and then set out for Cali. I'm pretty sure that he didn't go to UF. Ken Block and Andrew whatzisname may have taken a few classes at UF.

My younger brother played in a band with Ken out of high school...Scorcher. They tried to be a Ratt kinda 90's band. Ken's an okay guy, he'll sit and have a beer or chat a little with you if you run into him.

Kenny is from a rural area in Knoxville but I think he went to ETSU about 90 miles away. Could be wrong

Joe Nichols (tequila makes her clothes fall off) was in a few rock bands around Fayetteville before going country. Not sure if he was ever enrolled.

Stills went to LSU or so the rumor was in the 70's. I nver heard of 90% of these alleged "famous" bands. Famous does not mean they play the local honky tonks.

Southern Thing
In the Blood
Lifetime
Good
King of New Orleans
Extra Ordinary

And tons more I'm not thinking of.

Yes, great band IMO. One of my favorites.

You forgot Porcelain and a great rendition of Laid.

Corey Smith went to UGA.

Not sure if he's famous enough though.
