In defense of the bitches, TigerDroppings and SECRant have had stickies on their forums before giving people proper posting protocol. It's nice forum etiquette to identify what your thread is about in the subject line so people know what they are clicking on. It's also a good idea to provide some text from the destination link - not just post a link - so people will know where they're being sent.
I knew what the thread was about because I'm an Aggie and the topic has been blowing up on Texags all day, but if I didn't already have that knowledge I probably would've called you out too. Could've easily been a rick roll or some other waste of time rather than a kickass showing of solidarity against the freaks from Westboro.

Nah. It's quite common for them to "announce" they will show up then p*ssy out and never show.
I hope they enjoy being Satan's b*tches when they die.

Westboro... a church for tax purposes
The family is all attorneys who have gotten very good at sueing people for all sorts of things.
Their MO is to piggyback on something newsworthy, show up to protest, have an altercation or be slandered, sue, profit. Rinse and repeat.

Westboro says they are going to a bunch of places, but they never go. It's just added publicity.

Who cares man, let them protest. They have the right to and just don't pay attention to them. My buddy died in Iraq a year ago and he was one of the best Christan men I know. He was 20 and left behind a wife.
They enjoy being seen by men. They have their reward.

I imagine that logic is much harder to accept for the family that is burying their loved one.
The people who formed that wall weren't doing it for themselves. They were doing it for the family.

They aren't just sitting around protesting the war with signs. They are insulting fallen American soldiers loudly, and making sure the family members know it. They are some of the worst pieces of shite in this country and our founding fathers would be ashamed of the way they take advantage of freedom of speech

ETA: here's how the Foo Fighters addressed Westboro when they played KC.

I understand how you guys feel. I do not support their protest but I support the right for them to protest. The freedom of religion is something I do not want taken away just because someone is a pos and they abuse it. Its a sad thing that they do but its what they do. Like I said they have their reward. They will die just like the rest of us sinners. One day they will meet their God. They will pay for their sins.

From TexAgs, easier said than done.
quote:
These people want two things when they do this stuff:
- Attention
- Someone to do something stupid so they can sue
WBC is funded largely from judgments generated by lawsuits against people who did stupid things like threw a punch or a rock. They want you to be angry because that's where they get their power - occupying the real estate in your head.
Treat them like the sideshow they are. When I have encountered them, my friends and I have always laughed at them, posed for pictures, and generally made fun of their sad, pathetic display.
Don't get angry. Don't get physical, and don't let them overshadow the memory of a great man who did great things.
We always like to turn their presence into a fundraiser. Someone with some motivation could, perhaps, challenge people in the community to donate $1 to the family or a charity for every minute they are out protesting. Find a way to turn their presence into something positive that takes away their power.
I think that is always a good way to honor the memory of those fallen heroes whose funerals they have protested.

What about the right of a family to bury their Dad without interruption?

Posted on 7/5/12 at 10:06 pm to UKWildcatsFAN
I agree they have their right to protest, and I fully support freedom of speech as well. But our students also have the freedom to make a wall around them and drown them out, which I really support in this case.
