The LSU community hates Alexander and finding out Alexander ordered the suspension is no great surprise. Alexander hates athletics. He thinks LSU should be an elitist Ivy League school that focuses solely on academics. Obviously, academics should be the primary focus of a university but it’s stupid to spit in the face of a self-funded athletic department that annually turns big profits back to academics, which always has a budget in the red. And ask Alabama what Nick Saban’s presence has done for its enrollment numbers.
That’s why it took the big donors who rarely influence things like Alleva’s departure and Woodward’s arrival to get involved to make those things happen. We don’t have a T. Boone Pickens or a Tillman Fertitta in terms of boosters who the average LSU fan knows. That’s why all of this is so stunning and refreshing.
