You don't get it. You think you know but you don't know. It isn't really about 3rd downs. It is about when the game is on the line or a stop at the end of the half or game is needed. Chavis puckers up, goes into prevent, and stops doing what was successful for the previous 58 minutes. It happened like 12 times when he was at LSU.

It isn't about 3rd down conversions when the game is in hand. He did that just fine too.

But, who knows? Maybe he has learned and has changed his ways? He is a very capable DC. Hopefully for him he did some reassessment and learned.

I just I know that the Tennessee fans warned us and at first we all wrote threads like this too. And, Chavis was different for awhile. Then, he reverted back to form and we all went, "Oh, that is what the Vols were talking about." Now we get it.

But, I'm sure it will be totally different now that he is at A&M.

I remember when Chavis performed well early in his LSU career, too.

Genius! This guy probably works Disinformation for the NSA. So early in the thread and he already secured them an out.

If our defense DOES kick arse this year then they'll revert to this. "Oh, well, yeah: We TOLD you he's good for a season or two."

First we couldn't lure him away from glorious LSU. Then they didn't want him enough to pay our price. Then he had sucked all along and they were glad to get rid of him. He was going to suck so bad for us right off the bat that we'd KNOW right away we were fools. Now he might be good for a season or two.

These guys are too smart. My head hurts.

yes most of us have confidence in our offense just as most of y'all have confidence in your defense,

The difference is that our defense actually proves it's great while your offense is just falsely considered good.
last year's A&M offense ranked 33 in yards per game
And
LSU'S defense ranked 9th in opponent's yards per game

But TAMU has such an elite offense they will always be leading so Chavis will never have to go into prevent.

and widely forecasted to once again be one of the best in the nation.

I don't know how anyone can predict they will be great again since they lost just about every player on last year's offense.

ASU returned 3 starters from last year's team.

But they are definitely a top 15 team and TAMU's beat down of them proves TAMU will win at least 9 games this season.

If TAMU beats Lsu this year and it just happens that TAMU defense makes a last minute stop to secure the win then ,adios tsecr, this place will be toast, fried servers and electric fire smells abound.

Er uh... Your link points to a page that proclaims that they returned EIGHT (8) offensive starters.

As well as TEN (10) on defense.

They had to replace only THREE (3) starters on offense, DUDE.

That's yet to be seen. We really don't know shite about any cfb team until about week 4.
Until then, every ranking is a guess and might as well be irrelevant.

Anyone that says Chavis isn't a good DC should just be ignored when discussing cfb. It's not debatable that he is a top 10 DC. But like every coach, he has some flaws.
