Maybe you didn't notice who was in the national championship game.
Hint:
0 spread teams
2 old school teams

What spread teams have won the MNC?

Since the "true" spread became somewhat common in 1999, true spread teams have won four national titles. OU, Florida x2 and Auburn. 3 of the last 6 national champions ran some form of the spread.
This is happening, no matter how much Saban and Miles kick and scream.

Alabama won the NC, and they run a pro- style offense.

If there were 120 great dual threat QBs to come out of high school every year then youmight have had a point...

Of the 26 title game participants since 2000, 11 ran a spread offense. The 2008 and 2010 games pitted two spread teams against each other.
It can win just like any other offense.

Who cares? Line up and play the game. If everyone is running an offensive system, the better recruited and better coached team will still win.

People in this thread act like Alabama lines up in the Maryland I. 50% of Alabamas offensive snaps come from a spread formation. The key is to have the ability to run the other 50 from a power formation. This is why bama has had one of the best offenses in the country the last few years. Mcelwain and Nuss both ran/run a pile of spread plays, it's just not strictly what they run like an Oregon or tamu.
This is why lsu offense struggle in my mind, they don't spread it out enough. There is a time for spread and a time for power throughout the course of a game. I'm just glad bama is capable of both

So is everyone justoing to ignore the facts?

Of the 11, only 4 have won. And calling Florida's spread a true spread is being generous. So really, the spread is 2/11. I'm not betting my money on those odds

What facts?
Eta: Here's a fact for you. LSU has a defense designed to stop the spread. Chavis will never sacrifice speed for size. The more hats to the ball the better. See 24-19 as an example.
