Is there any legitimate reason that you have other than hope that it's a "swing and miss"? I posted these stats in a thread a few days ago after an Aggy fan was pretending that A&M's offense was magically going to help Chavis and I think they're pretty notable in this discussion:
So lemme put it like this: if he gives up 5 yards per play with Jamal Adams, Kendell Beckwith, Tre White, Jalen Mills, Corey Raymond, etc. etc. the list goes on, he sure as hell isn't going to magically take a defense with half the talent of LSU and mediocre assistants to help him game plan and turn them into a machine, especially when you factor in the fatigue from being on the field 25% more than his LSU defenses. Aside from blind faith, can somebody from A&M tell me why he's going to turn ya'll's horrific defense around? You do realize that considering how much A&M's defense is on the field, anything more than 5 yards per play, or him basically matching his defense at LSU last year, means ya'll are going to suck again right?
quote:
-LSU opponents plays per game last season: 60 (6th fewest in the nation)
-LSU time of possession last season: 9th best in the nation
-Texas A&M opponents plays per game last year: 78.8 (only 12 teams in the nation were worse)
-Texas A&M time of possession last season: Only 3 teams in the nation were worse
LSU's total defense ended up being ranked 9th despite giving up 4.9 yards per play (which wasn't even in the top 25) because our offense held on to the ball for a ridiculous amount of time. Plug in Texas A&M's opponents' plays per game and multiply it by our yards per play and you get 385 yards per game...which wouldn't even have put us in the top 50.
So cliffnotes for all of you genius Aggy fans that can't decipher what all of those numbers imply: If LSU and A&M traded offenses last year and LSU kept its 5* defensive talent and everything else stayed the same, LSU's total defense would've dropped from 9th to ~50th. It's going to be so funny when Chavis flounders without LSU's talent, assistants, or offensive system in place to protect his vanilla man-to-man limp wristed docile arse scheme

The back end of the defense will be great. The problem for SC is the depth up front and they don't have Leonard. I doubt they are vastly better.
They added ALOT to the front end in the off season. 7 Dline guys including the #1 Juco DE (and 4 other JC DE's). I think their line will surprise folks in 2015.
But keep writing them off...

Let me play the Ag here:
You stupid backwards cajun corndog swamp trash. We actually have an offense so we don't need him to be at LSWho's level. We just need SOME improvement over Sny_er. We were ranked 400th overall in defense last year we just need it to be half of that and we will win the SEC and NCG easily. Chavis didn't have the defensive line that A&M has with Myles Garrett (best defensive end in the country) and Daylon Mack (best defensive tackle in the country). Our defensive secondary is will be good because Chavis is a good DB coach and knows what he wants. WE all trust in Chavis and we know he will get a good defense for us. We will be attacking the offense and causing turnovers which will help our offense. Sorry that Chavis didn't want to coach at LSWho anymore and left to be with a real national contender. Stupid swamp trash. When Steele destroys your defense you'll miss the Chief. We'll take your recruits when that happens, too. Miles will be fired when everyone realizes that it was Chavis that made that team so good. Good luck swamp poors. Have fun dining on swamp rat.

I vastly doubt you know what the frick you're talking about. I also vastly doubt that many care what a duck thinks.

You guys thought I was talking about South Carolina?
USC = Southern California

Stop spewing this BS.
We have talent. Two starting defensive ends (6'6 & 6'5), each 265+. Hall is finally fully healthy from his shoulder surgery.
For the first time since 2012 we have something to look forward to at the LB position. AJ Hilliard is 6'2 230 and is fully healthy after his opening game injury last year. Our other two probable starters are both 6'3 235.
Safety will be a strength this year with returning star Armani Watts and addition of top JUCO player Justin Evans. Good depth behind them as well with Wilson and Dunning
At great size and speed (4.2) Brandon Williams will have a great year at CB

All you said was that A&M's D doesn't have athletes. Its not true and I already said I didn't blame you for being ignorant about it. I don't expect you to know what kind of athletes we have on D. One would think we don;t based on the results.
So you're little tangent trying to run down Chavis is falling on deaf ears. I don't want to hear your completely biased "breakdown".

Awful awful awful

Thanks
Also, you Ags need to stop talking about players' heights and weights when talking about them. It's completely useless.

Agreed.
Although I do think we will have a fairly talented defense, it's been really young and put in bad positions for 2 years.

Not really when I've seen at least one LSU fan per day claim our players are undersized
Posted on 6/18/15 at 4:26 pm to texag7
Your players are undersized?
Look at our defense. Chavis LOVES undersized players. His defense is swarm principle.

Oh really? Beckwith is almost 250 pounds
Posted on 6/18/15 at 4:31 pm to texag7
He was originally a DE and Chavis wanted him there. Miles forced the move to MLB (where Beck wanted to be). All off-season we heard about how sloppy Beckwith was in Chavis' eyes. I think he's fine at 240 and it's where he'll be at the next level.

I think A&M and LSU surprise, auburn and Arkansas disappoint in the west.
In the east I think it's pretty straight forward. I think Tennessee surprises and disappoints since the range of opinions on them is so vast. 7-6 or 8-5 ish season.

Haha wasn't your defense ranked like half of ours? We definitely only have one direction to go lol.

Not good to have to rely on juco players in the sec.

So according to ya'll I'm the one spewing BS but you literally just sat here and listed heights and weights and acted like that means jack shite. You understand that we've had linemen as talented as Garrett at LSU and they went completely unnoticed because Chavis' uses linemen for containment right? Go look at LSU's sack and interception totals under Chavis. And congrats on having big linebackers, that isn't what Chavis likes and it isn't what his scheme is built around having.

Wow congratulations again! Some safety that no one's ever heard of and a juco transfer! You know that you're comparing them to his ex players in Peterson, Mathieu, Claiborne, Mills, White, Eric Reid, etc right? Ridiculously good DB's are absolutely vital to Chavis' success and ya'll don't have them. I asked ya'll to explain to me why Chavis' D will give up less than 5 yards per play this year, when that was something he couldn't accomplish with much more talented players at LSU and I'm still waiting
