Except we beat this year's Florida team, who was the same team minus Harvin by about 3TDs. Harvin wouldn't have saved them from that arse whooping and you know it.

As an LSU fan I agree with the USCe fan that going undefeated is overrated. LOL. (sarcasm)
It is incredibly difficult to go undefeated and I don't see how you could possible rank teams that have a loss higher than those that don't.

When did I say it was overrated? I said it wasn't everything. There's a lot more variables. SOS, point margins, etc. Please learn to read.

I would say going 14-0 and beating 10 bowl teams, as well as defeating the past three national champions in the process would warrant being at the top.
Don't forget we had the Heisman winner and 6 AP All Americans, which has never been matched in the history of the SEC (or country for that matter.) Alabama's 09 team was the most talented and decorated of the decade. No team was able to exploit a weakness and beat us, which is something only matched by AU 2004.
IMO its 2009 Bama and 2004 AU at the top of the list.

just trust us, 03 LSU would win.
They couldn't beat a 5 loss Florida team, but they are going to beat one of the most decorated Alabama teams of all time?

Against SEC competition, '08 Florida scored 44.9 PPG while allowing only 12.5 PPG. That's an average margin of 32.4 PPG. This year, Florida scored 27.6 PPG in SEC games while allowing 12.0 PPG. The average margin was 15.6 PPG. This year's Florida team wasn't even close to last year's team and you know it.

LSU 03 was definitely good enough to beat Bama 09, but on a best of the decade list it is baffling how anyone but a homer could pick any team other than Bama 09. They did things that had never been done before and to say it was because the SEC or all of college football was down is just sad.

I have one change to make to the list even though i agree with most of it.
No offense to the AU fans, but I think our '03 team was better than their '04 team.
LSU's 04 team, you know the one that lost 4 games, went toe to toe with AU at Jordan-Hare, and could have won that game. We had Marcus Randall/jamarcus experiment that year.
The AU '04 team was awesome though.

Alabama had the second toughest schedule in the nation, defeated two teams that finished in the Top 3 by double digits, had six 1st team All-Americans, and a Heisman Trophy winner. Not to mention the fact that we defeated 10 bowl teams while doing all of that. I think a legitimate case can be made for '09 Alabama being the best SEC team of the decade.

Are you including the SECCG and the BCSCG in your #2 SOS? I'm pretty sure that any team that played in both of those games would get a gigantic bump in the SOS. Because.. regular season.. you played Virginia Tech and LSU (in a second consecutive down year). That's it. Hardly dominant until the SECCG and with a piss-easy regular season schedule.
If LSU played that schedule.. 11-1 or 10-2 at absolute worse. And that's this years team.

Yes, I am. Without those two games, if I remember correctly, Alabama still had the 4th or 5th toughest schedule. I remember this because throughout the regular season, Alabama's SOS was WELL above that of Florida, Texas, and Boise. When we pointed this out, you had fans on here shrugging it off and saying that it didn't remember.

A down year? I wouldn't call sending 10 SEC teams to bowl games (a lot of them pretty good bowl games) a down year. I can't remember the last time the SEC ever sent that many into the post-season. And just because you only have two dominant teams doesn't make it a down year in the SEC. If I remember correctly, there were only two dominant teams by the end of the 2007 season: Georgia and LSU.

How about the SEC was down this year?
SEC Bowl win% last 4 yrs:
2006 67%
2007 78%
2008 75%
2009 60%

quote:FYI - no they didn't. Unless you are counting more than first team selections, and from a selecting organization other than the AP. But guess what? In 2009 Alabama soph. safety Mark Barron made the third-team, giving the Tide 6 FIRST TEAM players selected, and seven players who received AP All-America honors.

11 First Team All-Americans from the SEC (more than any other conference), a Heisman winner, the #1 and #2 Teams in the country, a coach of the year, a national title third year in a row, and 10 qualified bowl teams. You cracked the case Sherlock, the SEC was just awful in 2009.
