What? I'm saying your 10-20 year period is absurdly long. Your methodology references historical dynasties and how much time they encompass in the civilization. As I have shown, if this is the argument you want to make you have to admit a college football dynasty should be about 5.5 years. You say you are basing this stuff on history but have completely pulled 10-20 years out of your arse.

Thank you golgi. I don't think anyone is taking this that seriously but I can see where this is going. If someone wants to entertain themselves on a Friday before the holiday (as I am doing) at least make this interesting and don't be so dense in the responses.

Simple answer:
Quite a while unless the NCAA actually is able to pin something on Bama and restart their probation cycle. Even then, Bama would stay good for a while.

in the past 4 years Bama is 30-5 in the SEC. 2 SEC championships and 2 national championships and playing for the 3rd. What would qualify as dominant?

2008: 8-0
2009: 8-0
2010: 5-3
2011: 7-1
2012: 7-1
total SEC record past 5 seasons: 35-5
While Bama "only" has 2 SEC championships during this 5 year run, they've got far and away the best SEC record during that time. By comparison, during the past five years the other traditional SEC powers have the following in conference record (does not include SECCG):
AU: 17-23
UGA: 27-13
UF: 29-11
LSU: 28-12

I apologize, I just went back and re read your post. I flew through it earlier because I'm finishing up a few things at work and because I just didn't really give a shite.
