The Gainesville Ripper by Mary S Ryzuk is a chilling read

It was a pretty harrowing time. Every day, they’d find another student murdered in the most gruesome and savage way. You’d look at people or strangers with a lot of suspicion, like…is that the killer?
Then the rumors, there were some saying the killer may have been wearing a police uniform.

All I remember is it was a guy who was living in the woods.

Nah, 5 students being murdered around a college campus is pretty standard operating procedure

A small movie franchise named “Scream” was inspired by it, but it never amounted to much.

I watched this last night and it is a very good documentary. I know the subject matter may be hard to handle, but this documentary gives you a sense of what it was like to be a student and additionally a football player during this time. The university pulled together and I think handled things the right way. The Head Ball Coach did it right also. He told his team that if you constantly think about what's going on in the community it will weigh on you. He asked his team to use football practice as a way to get their mind off of the murders for a short time. It worked. He also made a brilliant move when the players said they were going to go stay with their girlfriends.. He said there is strength in numbers and all the girls would be welcome in the athletic dorm. That dorm was protected like a fort.
