I find it hard to believe that UGA would take him off the field on the basis of an unsubstantiated allegation. Either there's hard evidence pointing to an exchange of money or there are other factors we don't know about.

You obviously don’t know anything about UGA. Our Athletic Office is petrified of the NCAA. And believe me, Richt isn’t taking any chances messing up another 9-3 season. We’re a Christian organization, live by a strict moral code.

I suspect Mizzou or Auburn is behind this. They each have their reasons of course

That's how it works at UGA. Just wait, half their team will be suspended a few days before the DSOR. NTY is doing work.

We are the debil. The sooner you understand this, the easier your life will be. Anything wicked going on, we are behind. We just point, and that Universities Compliance Dept. will suspend any player we want. We own the NCAA. Power, thy name is Auburn.

ETA Now say three Hail Auburns and then go frick yourself.

So the dude that paid him turned around and then turned him into UGA compliance. What kind of sense does that make?

Here's a quote from the reddit AMA from the broker:

quote:

Go to eBay and search for Signed stuff by the guys and look at who has the most stuff. There literally hundreds of pieces on there...
He got sloppy and greedy and its going to bite him in the butt.
It might get swept under the rug but as money hungry as ESPN is...

I would feel bad for the kid but what he does is business. When people cater to your needs and pay you good money for a few minutes of work, they expect some loyalty. When he does this hundreds of times, the value goes to the toilet and people are out a lot of money.

Basically (allegedly), Gurley got paid a decent amount from the dealers, but because he signed so much shite, the stuff he signed isn't worth that much. The dealer that's turning him in sees more profit in selling out Gurley than he can make off of the stuff that he signed.

That's my guess at least.

I have no doubt he absolutely did this. I don't give a shite. Neither should the NCAA- does it hurt the integrity of the game? NO.

However, if the NCAA wants to enforce this completely assbackwards and ridiculous idea of amateurism, then it needs to give out the same punishment to everyone who violates it. Gurley should be suspended a half a game---just like Manziel.

And the POS that profited from him, and then ratted him out? oh boy, let's just say I hope that Gurley gets to sign his face afterwards.

LINK

Here's an email from the dealer to SB nation.
So basically the guy claims he paid Gurley but has no evidence of the exchange of money. So Gurley should play, there's nothing more. The dealer is just a piece of shite who will get what's coming to him.

quote:

I have video of Todd Gurley doing a private autograph signing ***. He has been paid thousands of dollars for his stuff over the last 18 months. I personally paid him for this signing on the video. I have bought and sold game used equipment from him.

I want no compensation. Just want someone to leak this story that's deserving. If you have any interest, give me a call or email. I attached a photo of him in my car signing a mini helmet that I just sold last week on my eBay store.

All I ask is some privacy until we can touch base.

I live on Georgia and would crucified if my name was released.

The video is about 5 minutes long but doesn't show the money exchange.

My cell is **********

I believe this would be the lead story on sports center if ESPN got their hands on this. Hope to hear from you soon.

So here's the gist of the matter.

UGA, instead of lawyering up like Texas AM and Auburn, and daring the NCAA to prove it, says Gurley you're suspended.

Props to UGA.

I agree. UGA is following the bama model.

Auburn suspended Cam. The NCAA reinstated him right after. If the NCAA thinks it's bs like the Cam story they will clear him by Saturday. Otherwise there is something more to the story or more evidence that isn't released yet.
