Bouman can't strike you out. He very well may flounder once he gets in sec play.

He doesn't have an out pitch. Not unlike Glenn.

Bouman, a Missouri native, is 3-0 and has a 1.46 ERA in his four starts. He has allowed 18 hits and four earned runs while striking out 13 and walking one in 24.2 innings.

It came down, Mainieri said, to throwing strikes.

“That’s one thing that Kyle is: He’s a strike-throwing machine,” the coach said.

Right he throws strikes but he doesn't have an strikeout pitch. I mean Purdue hit him hard.

I get what you're saying, and I'm disappointed in both him and Glenn so far in that regard. Both are better off getting the batters to put it on the ground, leave it up to the defense.

I had high hopes for Hunter Newman...

So did I. I'm not against bouman, just not sold yet. He pitches well tomorrow and I'll definitely begin to change my time.

Isn't Vandys starter tomorrow a 6'7“ lefty who also has a 0.00 ERA? Going to be tough again for sure.

Went back and looked at that game:

Bouman worked 6.2 innings, limiting the Boilermakers to two runs on six hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

Definitely Vandy is on another level as far as talent, but Bouman has consistently thrown strikes, and not walks. He'll have to be helped out by the defense, for sure.

They got him harder than even the stat line.

Decent strikeout game though

Tap the brakes, guys. It's early in the season and they are still kids.
