The first time I ever realized what NSD was or is was back in 1995. Twenty-two years ago, my father let me play hooky from school, drove us down to the LSU Field House and spent an entire day there walking back and forth amongst LSU Fans. We'd move from a bank of telephones with guys who looked like they'd been hired out of the back room of a bookie's operation, told to remove their green eyeshades and throw their cheap cigars away to answer calls about which kids were committing, faxing their letters in, etc.
At one point, the head coach came by, shook our hands and spoke for a minute or two. He signed my LSU/Kevin Faulk hat. I was mesmerized.
I remember later in the afternoon while playing tapes of our commitments highlights and essentially narrating over it, DiNardo stopped, realized his phone was ringing and walked out to talk to an Uber recruit (Travis Minor of BR Catholic was waffling and called DiNardo before ultimately committing to FSU). The crowd went nuts and the emcee led us all in chants of LSU! LSU! LSU!
Remembering back to that time in my life, when CFB was a blip on a HS kid's radar...recruiting and CFB itself has come a long way. At 38, I have way less perspective than many here on it. But remembering that time in my life, and especially that day...brings me back. The memories fuel my love of this sport and everything that goes along with it.
So sit back, relax-or try to anyway-and enjoy the kids you signed. Obsess about the kids you missed. Monger rumors about the kids your rival stole from out from under you. It's all part and parcel of what fuels our fandom and makes CFB the greatest sport on Earth!

If Kentucky can flip the Bama commit from Tates Creek, UK will land in the top 25. I do see UK headed in the right direction, although painfully slow.

Much less drama these days than in years past. But still enough to obsess for the diehards like me.

Um, how about you don't assume my emotional level for the day? Thanks, shitlord.

Actually Bama removed their tweet about him. Probably so he can announce it first, but I'm hoping for a NSD miracle.
