If he still wanted it, why did he leave Miami in 07 when they were perfectly happy with his performance?
He had what could end up being one of the biggest misses in American pro sports history - choosing Culpepper instead of Brees. He saw the future was not bright, and in my opinion, he kinda wussed out. He saw the perfect sleeping giant opportunity at Bama which was very similar to what he saw coming to LSU. He basically said screw it, I can turn Bama around in a couple years and be thought highly of again.

I agree with the prevailing sentiment that Saban is a lot better coach now than he was when he was at LSU. He's hit his peak, IMO. How long he stays there is something he has to deal with. And until SEC teams step up their game, Alabama is something we have to deal with.

Who do you think is better known nationally; Sean Payton or Nick Saban?
I'd say both names are probably equally known nationally now. For different reasons of course.

i doubt Saban would ever go back to NFL. I really think he hated the NFL. Now, if he see a opp with another college before he hangs up the straw hat then maybe. BUT I don't see him going anywhere else.

okie dokie, hope that made you feel better

for the record, BAMA fans are sorta used to going though coaches, so it wont make me sick at all, little sad until the next great coach comes along. and we all know that will happen, been happening since we started playing this great game

I know quite a few people that watch NFL games and couldn't tell you who won the National Championship last year. However, EVERYONE in the world knows who won the Super Bowl champ.

BTW, the National Championship drew 17.2 million viewers. The Super Bowl drew 105.97 million viewers. You tell me who is better known nationally.

Indeed they do. Great programs are measured by the number of conference titles and national titles they have. Winning games are important, but you also have to win the games that count.
