It is hard to imagine a scenario where, in a world without divisions in the SEC, the 2 teams playing in the meaningless SEC CG do not get into the playoff. The conference should just crown a champion like we did for what, about 80% of the conferences existence. What does it matter if there are 3 or 4 conference champions in any given year, it has happened multiple times in the past.
