I've said the past month or so 9-3 is the best case I could give. The more I think about our defense though I don't think we'll be as bad as people think, but still 10-2 looks like a best case at this point. Between Clemson, SC, LSU, and UF, I'm guessing we split. I just hate that 3 of those 4 games are in the first month, that's a hell of a start.

Grantham is overrated .....but we will see how he does when he his own dl coach

IMO he is the only reason why Richt still has a job. He brought intensity that UGA was lacking. And he is a Thug POS.

This was so major during that time in our history. I wrote a long, long, long post a few years ago about all the problems with UGA at the time (I think it was after the UCF bowl loss).

To give a quick summary on that part in particular, from 01-04 we had VanGorder to bring hellfire to balance out Richt's more calm demeanor. When he left and Martinez stepped in, that element was gone from the staff. We had no enforcer, nobody that the players were scared shitless of. With Grantham, we got that back, and you could immediately see our discipline start to turn around both on the field and off.

2 or less arrests in the off-season 10-2
More than 2 arrests in the off-season 9-3

You think we go 0-4 against the 4 good teams on the schedule?

I don't think so. I see a 9-3 season for UGA, with a possible letdown to 8-4. 10-2 is very unlikely, but possible.

I pretty much agree with this, although I wouldn't say 10-2 is "very unlikely". All 10-2 means is we went 2-2 against the 4 hardest teams, which isn't a stretch by any means. But yeah 9-3 seems like a good prediction for right now.

You and Choupique hate UGA more than any other LSU fan should. I'm really surprised he hasn't made his way to this thread yet.

The only way for a 10-2 season is if Grantham can make over-achievers out of an inexperienced defense. You never know. The Gators were over-achievers this season.

I see what you are saying Tony, but there is something different coming into this season that UGA hasn't had before.

Normally, we've got 4 and 5 star guys who are expected to start, backed up by 3 stars and walk ons.

Now, UGA's defense is three and four guys deep at every position that are 4 and 5 star guys. Recruiting over the last 2 years, defensively, has been ridiculously good.

When four 3 stars are competing in Spring practice for a single starting position, that's alot different than four 4 (and some 5 star) guys all competing for the same position.... at every position on defense.

Depth is more than just "who goes in when Jamarcus gets hurt?".

Youth and inexperience will be a factor for the first few games, and it sucks to have Clemson and Carolina to open up with... it would be nice to have an LSU schedule with 4 cupcakes to work the bugs out of the system. Ultimately, the younger (but equally, if not more talented) UGA defense in 2013 will have to grow up fast or start off 0-2.

Then finish off like 2011 by winning out and going to the SEC championship for the 3rd year in a row... with a much better offense.

I don't think I'm being too homer about this... I think it's pretty well thought through.

that's probably the most honest thing anyone has said and that might hold you back from a dominant season next year but its sets up great seasons in the future or so you would hope
