Many of you don't know State's history. Just check out this link and see just how many actual on campus games were played in Starkville just a few short years ago.
LINK
For instance: 1981 - two games were on campus.
Take a look at the seating capacity for past years:
20,000 (1914-1935)
32,000 (1936-1947)
35,000 (1948-1982)
32,000 (1983-1985)
40,656 (1986-2000)
45,286 (2001)
52,884 (2002)
55,082 (2003-2013)
61,337 (2014)
I really can't wait to see what all they do to the existing lower sections. Some of those areas really need a face-lift (or demolished). The newer upper decks are pretty nice but the older lower concessions/restrooms suck!

Also what are they doing to the left of the jumbotron in this pic? Seems like they're working over there too.
We gutted the lower level on the west side and built it up about 8 ft to match the height of the new concourse around the endzone(2nd level seen in those pics). A much needed full renovation going on over there(west side of Davis Wade is the second-oldest grandstand structure in all of college football).
Going from 5 to 14 elevators @ DWS as well. So, that construction will be ongoing all the way around the stadium.

Nice. Fatties on Rascal scooters gotta get to their seats too. Good to see that Stricklin understands his target demographic.

That has a ton to do with the current thread topic.

Maybe Ole Miss should install a few extra's at VH to get the homecoming queen to her seat.

She may be big, but she can walk under her own power.

the south endzone will be closed in as well with several rows of seating
Ended up being left out of this phase. Just putting in the footings for that at this time, so it can happen quickly in the future

But can she climb steps?

It's gonna look much much better, and create a better atmosphere! Only thing more I could see doing is cladding the ugly exposed beams with brick.

It'll be nice when we Rebels can finish bowling ours in
It'll just be more empty seats.

Phase 1 of that is being done to an extent in this renovation. This is the actual final look(other than the small bowling on the other side -- which was axed from this phase at the last minute).
Master plan calls for a complete facade around the west side to match the new endzone, but we probably won't build it until we build the new pressbox up top in phase 2 or 3.
Rough idea on master plan:

Nope, guess not.
You should see the Clarion Ledger beat reporter blogs everyday if you think this place is bad.
