Statehouse has survived for over a hundred years. Don't think a thousand or so Aggies yelling and singing on the steps for 40 minutes is going to hurt it at all.
Yell practice is just like Arky football, much ado about nothing.

They try to do that shite at JHS, and people might die. #Truth.

I take great offense to USCe fans trying to disrupt our fighting Texas Aggie yell practice

Well what's the fun in that?

... And I believe they have an amphitheater out there... So PLENTY of steps. No excuses. In 2 years, Finlay Park. I've been hearing rumors about trying to get it at WillyB or the horseshoe... Neither will fly. There are dorms on the 'Shoe.. USC will NEVER approve that. Plus that would incite a riot. 30,000 students and 200,000 alumni would probably show up to defend the 'shoe.

I can't say why it was held in Montgomery for the AU game, but generally they do it at a local easily identifiable landmark. I have not heard of it ever actually being held at an opponent's stadium, so I think JHS is safe. For LSU it was on Bourbon street, and there was a lot of LSU fans out there as well at the same time. We did do the OM game Yell Practice on the Grove, and I don't recall a huge to-do about it then.
As for the cock fans who showed up, good on them. I wouldn't miss the chance to counter-rally either. Maybe a tradition will be born out of it? With luck.
This really isn't something that people should get all mad over. The yell leader's comments about Sherman were insensitive and definitely shouldn't have happened, but other than that its a tradition that is obviously good for starting rivalries.
