Drove by the Statehouse this morning on my way to work

Didn't see anybody burying their loved ones. What gives?

The Aggies takeover numbered in the dozens. It was not as big as they advertised. Flights out of Austin must have been too expensive.

Apparently the Aggies are stunned that Gamecock fans, alums and students would take offense to their Yell Practice being held on the steps of our State Capitol where jokes about Sherman burning Columbia were being made by their overall-clad yell leaders.

So I guess all bets are off then?

If they want to do their cheers at the State House, I couldn't care less. But it should be noted that the SC State House is adjacent to USC's campus, across the street from the Vista, the biggest bar district in Columbia and a 15-minute walk from 5 Points. To think that having Yell Practice there is a good idea is borderline stupidity.

You do realize all that stuff you just listed is the reason why it was held there, right?

That's fricked up, I could see if it were yanks making jokes, but Texans?

Yes I do. But it's hilarious to hear A&M talk about the Gamecock fans being "classless" in showing up to shout down Yell Practice, when the very purpose of holding it there is to provoke said reaction.

I honestly didn't care

Honestly am not sure I've ever seen such a colossal mountain arise from such a mundane molehill.
The chip on the SC shoulder is ... evident.
I like SC and it's fans immensely; but 'tis obvious they are in desperate want of something around which to rally.
Their student leaders should take advantage of that--it's the stuff from which fun traditions are borne.
I'm glad they slummed enough to leave their "real college fan parties," joined the Ags for pre-game festivities, and enjoyed themselves.
That's exactly how cfb should be.
How was Midnight Yell in Columbia

The purpose is to hold it in a large, easily identifiable, outdoor location where visiting fans can walk and assemble peacefully.
That's it.
No ulterior motives.
Here's to a great game.

There is no way you believe that. The Yell practice when yo uplay Auburn was held in Montgomery.
If you wanted a central area for visiting fans, you would not have done it an hour away.

Aggy's have always been classless. It's their thing & believe it makes them cool and different. They're as deep as a kiddie pool.

This is Finley Park, less than one mile from the State House. Based on your own criteria, it is a much better venue for Yell Practice than our State House. Had it been there, y'all would have been left to yourselves to conduct your tradition.

Actually, I do? It's the truth.
The local Association of Former Students clubs plan the locations.
Away game Yell is predominantly attended by Former Students; current students have nothing to do w the location.
For whatever reason, the SC AFS Club apparently thought that was a good locale.
I can promise you that they weren't trying to incite a riot in SC, but not so in Auburn.
Believe what you want--no skin off my nose.

I know nothing about SC geography, nor was I involved in the planning of last night's Yell.
Looks like a great park.
Maybe they'll hold it there in two years?

Saw Drivin N' Cryin play there about 10 years ago and it was a blast. Hope y'all enjoy Columbia today and the game tonight.

I think that's a MUCH better idea. I don't think you'll see half the Gamecocks you saw this year at your cheer practice, if you hold it at a park like FInley.
