bama- some old arse game their defense was stonewalling someone and a journalist said their D looked like a crimson tide.
auburn- tigers? they drew a name from a hat. War eagle is something from one of the early wars, there was some batallion or something that used it as their battle cry and it ended up coming to the plains.
Am i right? I could be wrong.
War Eagle, according to legend, comes from an old confederate war eagle that I believe a professor had kept that flew around the stadium in the 1890 AU-UGA game. Students said 'hey, it's the war eagle!" etc.
War Eagle, how it probably happened, is during a pep rally in the 1920s where an ROTC student said Auburn was going to fight their asses off because "this means war". When he said that, he dropped a metal eagle medallion thing. When people asked him what it was, he said it was a War Eagle.

Great an ESPN program (sensationalism at its best to start..) that will focus around Paul Finebaum and the other lunatic fringe from both fanbases.. Pass..
You mean like this?

F off, booger-eater. Nothing that I stated in that post is incorrect. You inbred bastards are pathetic SOBs, you are serial cheaters and you do enjoy Bama losses more than you do your own wins. And, you did roll your dying trees this past weekend. And, we're going to kick your cheating asses in your own schitty stadium. Bank on it. RTR!
Sent: 11/7/2011 They are a bunch of pathetic SOBs who have to live vicariously by watching a third team do something that they can't do without cheating, and that is to beat Bama fair and square. Those inbred reprobates actually enjoy Bama losses more than they enjoy wins by their own paid professional athletes and that's just sad. RTR!

Seriously, wow... You have too much vested in this rivalry. Ease up.

I'm skeptical. The worst thing about the Iron Bowl has been when you fan the flames and all the rednecks get riled up, and this could very potentially do that. Coincidentally, this is why I don't enjoy Finebaum.
agree 100%.

Finebaum may the the worst thing ever to happen to our rivalry. Weak minded fans eat that crap up.

I can't decide if this is going to worth watching. It depends on how much they play up the Finebaum crowd.
ESPN usually does a good job with these documentaries, but I have a feeling this one will be like the reporter doing interviews at the trailer park after a tornado.

Stephen fry did a show about it when he was in Alabama if that's what you're talking about. On phone and can't post link, but it's "Stephen Fry in Alabama" on YouTube. Awesome video, one of my favorites.

That sounds as if it would be quite uncomfortable.

That Stephen Frye video is awesome. The pregame for the Iron Bowl gets him to tears.
