no he's not. State message board posters will never be happy with our beat writers unless the beat writer writes like a state fan.

Look at all the Auburn posters up in this thread. They so badly want to be our rival. It's amusing.

So when the OBC won't start a press conference until a named member of the media exits the room, it's the coolest thing ever, but when Mullen refuses to answer a question against a (well-known) policy that has been effect for 4 years and threatens to leave the room (of an informal question/answer type session that he's doing as a service to the media), it's a sure sign of an unprofessional, arrogant pussy/douche-bag.

Got it.

(And remember that this is the same media group that asked Stans a question concerning Twany Beckham at Kentucky off the record before a presser had started, he made a comment, and they threw the shite all over the internet)

some of you guys (including a whole lotta auburn fans) don't understand the job of these beat writers... it's not to make you feel all warm and fuzzy about your program... they're hired to report the situations as they see them, as a professional, not a fan.

Unless, of course, you're beat writer is cecil hurt... then homerific reporting is expected.

The guys are reporters. It's their career. Yet fans think they are doing a poor job when they report something negative. Our fans were bashing Marcello for asking Kalio Moore questions about Ole Miss. shite, that's the only question I was interested in hearing him talk about.

Now, in their defense, it wasn't like they were asking about a new injury. They were asking about a guy who had gotten hurt last year and how he was looking this season, after the injury. If I had been him I would have asked too and not thought that that question would be in that group. Dan could have handled it differently, but he is obviously letting them know on the first day to not ask anything like that for the rest of the year.

I loved Veazey. All the message board idiots hated him because he was "anti state." Then he went to Ole Miss and guess what they thought. That he was "anti-ole miss." Then guess what happened. He got a better job offer. Wonder why? Oh that's right. Because he was doing his job very well.

I love how sports journalists feel their job is as important as a national political investigative journalist or something. As if they have a right to have any and all questions answered so the public can be informed.

Surprisingly, the media seems to get along well with Saban now. Even the national guys seem to respect him and understand his dry humor. He has learned the value a good relationship with them brings and the media has learned to respect his boundaries.

mullen just needs to do what chizik does... when asked about an injure, 9 times out of ten he'll say "day to day"... he gives absolutely ZERO information about injuries, but still doesn't get his panties in a wad and lets the guys do their job.

Oh I get it. So only Alabama has homer beat writers. Cecil Hurt is not a beat writer BTW.

Yeah but he's making the guys scared to ask him. So if Tyler Russell goes down in week one, no one will ask him the status. If they do, they get shunned and don't get an answer. Then Auburn has to prepare for two totally different offenses. So let's not act like what Dan did wasn't effective and that there wasn't a reason for it.

Meh, Veazey wanted to dig too much. And he professed to hate football and only want to cover hoops. He's in the best place

I think mullens an immmature douche but I dont think he did anything wrong here. they obviously knew his policy and kept repeating the same question. He told them to come back with some questions he could answer. doesn't seem so bad to me

A beat writer should reports facts without snooping or digging. If Locke wants to be Barney fricking Fife he needs to cover homicides. They shouldn't sabotage the team they cover.
