If 15% counts as a legitimate shot. They just don't have any elite playmakers or gamechangers IMO.

If there was a year to win the east for USC, this would be it. However, I still don't see them winning it.

I have been a lurker on here for quite a while, but haven't really posted. While I don't consider myself a homer, I have to disagree with this statement. IF South Carolina has anything this year, its skill players. Have you ever seen Alshon Jeffery, Tori Gurley, or Stephon Gilmore play (All rising sophomores btw)? If the OL improves A LOT I would give them a chance in the east, but I don't see it happening.

No. Here are a few reasons.

1. They play Florida at home. They have NEVER beaten Florida in the swamp.

2. They have to beat Georgia. Since Mark Richt arrived, they are 2-7 against UGA, and Spurrier is 1-4.

3. Alabama and Arkansas are on the schedule. Two of the tougher teams in the SEC west in 2010.

4. They haven't beaten Auburn since 1933. They have to play @ Auburn.

5. As bad as UT is right now, SC has only beaten them 4 times in their entire history in 26 attempts. Although, spurrier is 2-3 against UT.

6. They've lost 2 of the last 3 to Vandy, and barely beat them last year.

SO, how is this team going to win the east?

I have us favored by 3 only because it is at home. If it was in Columbia I would have the roles reversed.

I forgot about Alshon Jeffery and Gilmore, Culliver and Garcia are not SEC level gamechangers.

I hope you're right. Some people will look at it as a Dyer vs. Lattimore battle.

Damnit, if we would've known he'd burn us for USCe i bet we would've let Seastrunk commit. Especially looking at our running back depth now.

It would hurt us if Fannin went down.

Sc is like lsu except way lower in talent....as long as both teams o linemen and qb improve they will both win their sides

I'll play your silly game. They'll use the players they have now. As opposed to the ones who were so inept in the past.

As I said before, this may be the perfect storm scenario for SC to win the east. UF and UGA both breaking in new QB's and new DC's in the same year. UT is way down. UK & Vandy have a new coach.

It's the Year of the Cock.

My point is, they have SO MUCH history against them. It would take a cluster-frick miracle for them to win the division.

Did you not read my post? That miracle has occurred.

UT has imploded, UF and UGA both are breaking in new QB's AND new DC's.

Not to mention, SC has a lot of talent. O-line is the biggest question mark IMO. A better o-line means a better year at QB for Garcia.

The Cocks are pretty much set everywhere else.

That is just good on PAPER.

The miracle is if they actually win 6 conference games when they'll only be favored in 3, maybe 4 of them.

I look at USCe the same way I do with Arky and Ole Miss when they are picked to do something out of the ordinary like winning thir division, they find a way to mess it up and until they do I have my reservations with them.

Dude, Arkansas has won their division a few times(2006 being the latest).

Not yet it hasn't, the season hasn't started. I see what you're saying, and they have gotten some things to fall into place in their favor. But they still have to WIN games, which they haven't done a whole lot of over their history.

And not near as much as Florida or Georgia.

People are seriously underrating the strength of their schedule. Let's say they do beat Georgia or Florida (they won't beat both). That's good and all, but they get 3 of the (if not the 3) hardest teams from the west. That's brutal. They won't win the east, even with their best team in a while.
