I say yes. Until the NCAA, SEC, or FBI comes up with something that sticks his play on the field counts. And any media dipshit who pulls the ethics crap and doesn't vote for him are full of shite. As long as he is eligible he deserves it.

Not judging your opinion but are you saying ethic's shouldn't count? Hey, I agree he is the best player but what's so bad for him to come out on record publically stating he has no knowlege of any of this-that would go a long way!! If he refuses to do that-I'm a little leary!!

Even though I think he did get paid I would have to vote for him right now. He is an eligible player and easily the best player in the country. I wouldn't judge a vote on speculation on the future.

THIS. See, now this is an opinion I and everybody should respect. Unlike some scum sportswriters who are already saying they're not even voting for Cam already, you're not letting your opinion get in the way of facts. As has been tirelessly repeated, there is no proof that AU nor Cam did anything wrong or that Cam got paid. As of now, he's done nothing wrong and he's eligible.

Yes, it would be bad if it were found later that he had been paid after winning the Heisman, but it would be an even bigger injustice to vote for other guys and Cam not win it because of speculation and your own personal beliefs, and then it eventually come out that he was innocent.

Regardless of what you think of the guy, he has been far and away the best football player on the field and admittedly the most valuable. This should be one of if not the most lopsided Heisman votes of all time.

Oh, and for StarkvilleTigerFan, here's a little excerpt for you from a recent column from Andy Staples on SI.com

quote:

Some have said Newton's past -- the Florida arrest and a report that he faced expulsion at Florida for academic cheating -- should preclude him from winning the award. Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith took $500 from a booster and got suspended earlier in his career, but that transgression didn't stop Smith from winning the Heisman in a landslide just four years ago.

Meanwhile, Newton's closest competitor for the Heisman is Oregon tailback LaMichael James, who was arrested earlier this year for a domestic incident involving his girlfriend. The initial headlines made James look awful, but the facts of the case were less severe. Read the sentencing memorandum and decide for yourself how you feel about the incident, but know this: Anyone who votes for James but leaves Newton off his ballot is a hypocrite.

The last time I checked, the last sinless person to walk this earth was our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Nobody is a saint. Every person has trangressions. Is any one bigger than the other?
Like Staples points out, past Heisman winners have flaws and to vote for James would be hypocritical. Sadly, it's hard to find integrity in college sports anymore.

Dude-as a sports writer, I don't need concrete proof-I just need him to come out publically and say so-say he had no knowlege of his dad's dealing or he has no knowlege of anyone getting paid for his services at Auburn....just go on record and say so!!!

I definitely think that Cam should get the Heisman however, you don't really know how the media will vote. Manning at Tennessee comes to mind. BTW, whatever happened to the guy who won it that year? I mean, how did he do in the NFL? I'm not a big follower of the NFL.
