I would trade back USCe for Tennessee in a heartbeat. Those were our two original permanent opponents and even though the UT series was not in our favor the games/atmosphere were always better. I would definitely prefer to swap them but that will never happen.

It better not.

The only other solution I could think of would be to let the current SEC teams keep their cross division rival, but let the 4 new teams rotate divisional rivalry games with no permanent rival. That way an FSU wouldn't have to travel to College Station every other year. Games of that distance are hard to turn into rivalries unless you are 2 historic programs.

I am so looking forward to some of the more unexpected beatdowns that aTm will get... from teams like UK.

yeah, though if we only go to 14 teams and get both from the west, Auburn would move to the east. That could bring back the Florida vs Auburn annual rivalry.

Yeah but an LSU vs AU game might be dropped if we go to only 14 and AU is moved to the east.. It's either go up to 8 conference games and lose a cross divisional game or go to 16 and go to 4 divisions

I really don't see the SEC going to play 9 conference games a season.

Well, That might have been 97 when Craig ran his mouth to Bob Stoops about how he was gonna destroy out defense. The 02 game was a classic.

I would love to have VT as our permanent rival. I definitely would not mind going to a game in Blacksburg at all.

I honestly don't care about play USCe every year. I don't feel like it's a rivalry at all, to far away, i've only been there once since we joined the league. Tenner was a much better yearly game, but i don't see how we could play them every year unless they went back to two perm games.

The problem with that is either The Iron Bowl or the The Third Saturday in October would have to be given up by Alabama. I don't see either happening.

USCe doesn't feel like a rivalry AT ALL. VaTech would be even less so. I see them with TAMU, though.

If Auburn moved East and was set to be Bama's permanent opponent, I'm sure both UT and Bama would fight to keep the rivalry.

I'm not sure they would be able to convince everyone, though.

The SEC could always go back to having two permanent cross division rivals. That was done from 1992-2001. Of course, it doesn't really work with 14 teams.

I think they would work it out to where you still played them every year. I wish we played Tenner every year still, had some good games in the late 90's. Going to do my best to make it to Knoxville next year

That's true, but then you would rarely play the other teams in conference.

looking at it, I don't see why we couldn't go to 2 permanent non divisional rivalry games and 2 rotating games.

With 7 conference games you would have to play your 3 divisional games each year. With all games being equal like they are now, why not have 2 permanent non divisional games? Still leaves 2 games to rotate.
