if i recall correctly this post was started in semi-jest as the dude was just mainly wanting to toss out some gifs he had done in a
sort of way. 13? pages later and panties are wadded.
seems to me that the hog fans don't give a shite what lsu fans think/believe and the lsu fans don't give a shite what the hog fans think/believe- which is actually fine and how things should be. just why are people pissy again?

Sure it is. But that backfires on them, even with vastly superior talent and coaching as LSU fans claim they have we are 8-11 versus them since joining the SEC. Three more wins over a two decade span is not exactly dominating a program that they claim to be so much better than.

again, one game is not indicative of the program as a whole, something you seem to be regurgitating throughout this thread. lsu has 3 sec titles since expansion, arkansas 0. lsu has 2 national titles since expansion, arkansas 0. if it makes you feel better to be only 3 games behind in one series, then hey go for it. ole miss has a winning record against florida, but you don't see any rebel fans claiming they're anywhere near the program florida is. it's actually quite funny that you seem to think the way you do, although i have a feeling you're either 15 years old or a troll.

Not to mention that period includeds the darkest decade of LSU football so it's no wonder they love to use that one rather than the all-time series record which is of course much more of a telling stat for how the series has played out historically.

Finally, some honesty in this tread. To be fair to you guys, it's just your postseason history in the past 30 years that sucks. You had some good history prior to this in the SWC.
From reading this thread it looks like most Hog fans think that you have turned the corner with Petrino. I agree he is a good coach and has a great offensive system in place. What I don't see is how you are going to elevate your program to the championship level with 3* talent (based on recruiting rankings the last 4 years). Doing that seems like smoke-and-mirrors and arkyhype to me, just like with the good years under Nutt. No flame.

The 90's was the worst decade for Arkansas football since World War II.

Right, that's what I meant... our post season history.

I just don't agree... Petrino > Nutt
I honestly don't think we will ever have a no bowl season again under Petrino... maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see it happening.

I agree with this. Petrino WAY > Nutt. All I am questioning is his ability to "get to the next level" without consistent top #10 recruiting classes, when you have to compete with the likes of Bama and UF in the SEC (with top #10 classes every year). It seems you guys are trying to put the cart before the horse with this.
I agree that you should always be in a bowl with Petrino (vs. Nutt). But I think that you also have to admit that in 3 years with Petrino, all you have to show for it (in terms of postseason wins/hardware) is a Liberty Bowl win vs. CUSA ECU. I do agree that Petrino will pretty much always be able to do "more with less" than Nutt could, but it sounds like you guys are after champs now and will not be satisfied with this.

Petrino did in year 3 what we have never done... well, since there were BCS bowls anyway. We have reason to feel optimistic. But yes, recruiting will need to get better to consistently compete with the big boys and I think Petrino is preparing for that.
You have to remember, we don't have the in state talent that the big boys do. Arkansas has to work that much harder. If we continue to have nice seasons, it will come easier.

Petrino is bringing consistency to this program. We wont always win, but we will compete and be a player in the west.

IMO The Green Bay Packers has a worst offense then Arkansas.
BTW, I'm on the flagship until they play 'Bama.

I agree... I don't think we'll have the roller coaster years anymore and for that, I'm happy.

If Arkansas can win the SEC just once, recruiting will get much better.

This is a good (honest) post. Yes, Petrino got you to a BCS bowl which is a big step. Nutt also got you to 2 SECCGs. You also have to admit that all 3 of these games were losses. I don't think the rest of us (SEC fans) place much value (other than negative value) on Ls.
Yes arky's population is only about 2.5M? I think this is your big problem (talent level) that you have to overcome. You will have to go out-of-state to snatch a couple 4/5*s every year. Other programs are able to do this, so you should be able to do it too. My problem with this thread is that I just don't see how your program is ready in 2011 to win the SEC and the BCS, without first building the program up to where it needs to be to accomplish its goals.

Sweet i'll get you a life raft before the Bama game.

Since this is another Arkansas thread I am obligated to make at least one post in it. Here it is.

Don't think this thread implied we would win the NC next year. We are just building towards that goal.

Get outta here, RANDY. We are having a civilized conversation for once!
ETA: Nevermind... that's boring. Let the flaming commence.
