Not sure Joey has the quickness needed to run for his life behind the shitshow we call an OL. Most QBs would not be 5-1 right now with what Nix has around him and the moron he has coaching him. Nix is special, if you can't see it you don't know football

short bus references aside, 5 interceptions to 8 tds and 54% completion pct isn't special by any stretch of the imagination.

Jeremy Johnson was Mr. Football, touted as Cam 2.0 and a Heisman contender. He was a disaster.
Yeah but once JJ was the starter it became pretty quickly clear he didn't have the moxie.
Bo was overwhelmed Saturday but he's already succeeded in bigger spots than JJ and appears to have a lot more resilience in taking accountability, body language, etc.
I'm guessing Bo plays good games against Ole Miss and Arkansas and plays reasonably well at LSU (even if we lose that game). That stretch might tell the story. Of course, if he falls apart in those games it'll go the opposite way.
It is a little sad, just because of the nature of high stakes CFB and the success of top freshman in recent years, that we're talking about whether a 19 year old is cut out to be a QB after 6 games in which he's 5-1. Not saying it's wrong to have that discussion, but it's probably a somewhat unfortunate byproduct of this era of big time CFB.

Agree 100% and think this is where Gus blew it. I know its a Monday morning QB deal- he's trying to get his guy reps and experience. But he has to know a freshman moment is always around the bend...right?
Which is why I don't buy fans passing the buck to Bo on execution. Gus has a freshman (his choice, his roster management), so we have no margin for error. We cannot waste first downs on our awful screen game, or run complex pre-snap motion that shows how smart Gus is but garners 2 yards, etc.
Yes, Bo has to execute, but going "well if Bo hit those 3 passes we'd have won" ignores that our offensive success should not be entirely contingent on a 19 year old making 3-4 good passes in major moments.

A) This is overstated. He's got maturity and can probably be a very good SEC QB, but the hype machine is in overdrive (or was).
B) It's overstated in part because of the success of similarly "special" QBs who thrived more and earlier. In prior eras Bo would not be getting this pressure. We should stop waiting for Bo to suddenly be elite before he's 20 and start hoping he becomes an asset to the Auburn offense this season.

He is a true freshman with talent that fits Gus offense so you keep him out there. Gus may want to run the ball more including with Bo .

Fair points. When Gus takes a QB out of HS, develops him and makes a championship run with him, I’ll believe. Jury is still out on Nix.
