As a Vol, I used to despise Spurrier. He is one of us, an East, Tennessean, and as such he knew exactly how to push all the right buttons to piss us off and the fact that he was from here made it worse. Then Spurrier left Florida and many of us (not all though) realized we loved to hate the man. Hell, I miss him being at Florida and razzing us.
It's odd now that he's at SC because some of us like him now, or maybe we just came to realize how much he added to the game (Spurrier and Fulmer created that rivalry from nothing and it's fading without them). Even though he still takes shots at us at times, I find it more amusing than angering. Some of us even cheer for SC because of him when we're not playing. I guess you could say many of us have made peace with our wayward native son.

He is extremely unmannered and rude for a 69 year old man. Body of old man... mind of a child. He throws a insult at other coaches and schools... extremely unclassy.

Dumbest question ever asked on the Rant.

The singing of Rammer Jammer is a time honored tradition. A tradition built upon mutual respect and dignity of our fans and those of our opponents. Opposing fans revere it, Bama fans embrace it, the CFB world is in awe of it!! Those words are sacred to millions and millions of people around the world. On par with such traditions as lighting the flame before the Olympic games.
If you ever utter that blasphemy again I will have no choice but to begin the paperwork for your immediate and permanent ban from this site.

I'll just leave this here.

As someone from the Midlands in SC I would say he could coach forever. What he has done for USCe is special and they are long way from not being satisfied with double digit wins and beating their rival more than their rival beats them.
My life fits the timeline of Auburn maturing out of this and I believe USCe has a ways to go.
What does that even mean.
Was just trying to show my perception of the fan base in this area, they seem satisfied to simply compete so long as they win several games, beat Clemson and go to bowls. There was a time in my life when Auburn had a similar mentality. I am thankful most Auburn fans don't settle for that now. We will likely win 9-11 games this year and if we don't win the conference or the National Championship most Auburn fans if honest will be disappointed. It wasn't always that way. Perception can and often does become reality.

No. They hate the best and most successful coach they've ever had

Spurrier is a Florida native....he went to elementary school in Tennessee. Played CFB in FL. Played NFL in FL. Coached professionally and collegiately in FL. Lives part time in FL...

You could not be more wrong. You are incredibly wrong - monumentally wrong.
We want championships. If you'd been paying attention you would know that. We've been a baseball school for decades ... we were not satisfied unless we were/are winning championships.
We tasted success in basketball during the ACC McGuire years and we yearn for that again - and we'll continue to endeavor to win championships.
We tasted women's basketball success during the Pam Parson years and we've been trying to get back there ... we think we're almost there.
But football is something that takes time. We've always had great fans and great support but still, we've let our craziness and infighting hurt our efforts over the decades. We've never waivered from wanting championships, but we were surrounded by a cheating bunch of fricktards at Clemson and UNC and the SEC, particularly Georgia, to our west. We just never were willing to get down and dirty with the rest of them, so we've been trying to do it the right way all along and it has cost us to some degree.
We're getting there. We're close. Our recruiting territory is now national, although we concentrate on home and the border states, and we've finally earned some respect in that regard. Our facilities are almost there. Our fanbase and Board of Trustees are now all pulling in the same direction. We've always been somewhat of a sleeping giant given the talent around us and the support we've had, even in the down years ... so, you could not be more wrong about our collective mentality. We're not the least bit satisfied. We're frustrated, but we're not dumb and we're very patient as long as we see us moving forward and not taking any backward steps.
We're disappointed in this year, but we're also realistic.
Now, if we lose to Tennessee at home you may see a bit of a mini-melt. We're right on the edge of being pissed-off right now, but we're also taking a wait and see attitude knowing this has been a bit of a transition rebuilding year.

I think a bunch of posters on here forget just how horrible South Carolina was before CBS got there.

There is no doubt about this, even in the down years SC fans showed up. I can respect that.
I hated Spurrier at UF, I love him at SC.
