I do think the AU religious self righteousness is obnoxious.
My point is that there isn't a vast difference in the make up of a fan base based on the team they choose to support. There may be some geographical differences, etc., but for the most part fan bases are pretty similar.

I went to a small high school school in NE Alabama and if I tried to pick my friends by what school they cheered for I would have been one lonely barner. 95% of my friends are Bama fans as well as my wife. This hatred that is displayed is almost entirely an internet/talk radio thing that doesn't hold true IRL.
