I'm surprised a song with the word Dixie in it is allowed. I like the song myself.

Why did they think the Mason Dixon line was in Tennessee? It's the border between Maryland and Pennsylvania.

I personally love the song and the video that was later produced. But I gotta say, I cannot make sense out of the lyrics and how Bama uses them during their home games;
quote:

Rollin' down a backwoods, Tennessee by-way,
One arm on the wheel.
Holdin' my lover with the other,
A sweet, soft, southern thrill.
Worked hard all week; got a little jingle,
On a Tennessee Saturday night.
Couldn't feel better, I'm together,
With my Dixieland Delight.

Spend my dollar, parked in a holler,
'Neath the mountain moonlight.
Hold her up tight,
Make a little lovin',
A little turtle dovin'.
On a Mason-Dixon night.
Fits my life, oh so right,
My Dixieland Delight.

White-tail buck deer, munchin' on clover,
Red-tail hawk sittin' on a limb.
A chubby old groundhog, croakin' bullfrog,
Free as the feelin' in the wind.
Home grown country girl, gonna give me a whirl,
On a Tennessee Saturday night.
Lucky as a seven, livin' in heaven,
With my Dixieland Delight.

Spend my dollar, parked in a holler,
'Neath the mountain moonlight.
Hold her up tight, make a little lovin',
A little turtle dovin'.
On a Mason-Dixon night.
Fits my life, oh so right,
My Dixieland Delight.

Spend my dollar, parked in a holler,
'Neath the mountain moonlight.
Hold her up tight, make a little lovin',
A little turtle dovin'.
On a Mason-Dixon night.
Fits my life, oh so right,
My Dixieland Delight.

Rollin' down a backwoods Tennessee by way,
One arm on the wheel.
Holdin' my lover...
And seriously, “frick Auburn” was incorporated into the lyrics? Seriously Bama fans

The song Take Me Home, Country Roads was about Western Virginia, but nobody has told WVU fans.

That’s way too far North.

Alabama’s unofficial nickname is “The Heart of Dixie” - and was even on the license plates for a while. Add that to the band’s name being Alabama, and it works, IMO.

I have to admit the Dixieland Delight “groupsing” between 3rd and 4th quarters at BDS is pretty awesome. Of course, I experienced it in person at the 2019 game.

Lol. Thats not what the song is saying at all.

Bammer can play Rocky Top too if they want. Doesn’t change the fact you’re playing a song romanticizing Tennessee that was written by a Tennessean while in Tennessee.

The only state with a county named Dixie is the great state of Florida though

Hardly. I am a fan of a team that says “Suck that tiger dick, bitch!”

It mentions the state, and I don’t really care. Lots of bammers and some of our best former players live(d) in Tennessee
