Doesn't matter, LSU gonna dominate lowly Clemson cause Carolina did with a back up QB.

I can tell you right now that after going to the last two cotton bowls (UT/LSU) and the Ind. Bowl (Ga) that chant is infuriating. Hoping to start one of my own this year.

Question:

When did chanting SEC begin? Has this been a long standing tradition or did it begin in the BCS era?

I've heard different things. Some say Florida started it when they beat Ohio State in '06. Some say LSU started it

Hell, the absolute first time I ever heard it wasn't by us or an SEC team, it was by the freaking Longhorns during our SWC farewell tour. UT was playing us in DKR (1990 - you've all seen the youtube of the UT band making fun of us leaving...). They beat the shite out of us and in the 4thQ the student section started the SEC chant. Me and about 10 other young buck Hog fans made the fatal mistake of sitting IN their student section as well. It was brutal.

The best part of that day was focusing on the blowup sex doll being batted around like a beach ball. It eventually went over the top edge falling outside the stadium to the crowd's delight and sadness. The only good memory for me.

I'm going to the Cotton Bowl for the privilege to chant SEC-SEC-SEC as we curb stomp those Land Thieves.
As I'm chanting SEC-SEC-SEC, I'll be sitting in the Oklahoma section. I'm sure that will go over well.

Who did LSU start it against initially?

And sao, that's hilarious. Screw them.

You guys are young.

It started back when we left the SWC like Sao said.

When we won each game of the SWC basketball tournament our final year, you would have though it was the SEC tournament from the SEC chants, won the whole tournament in Barnhill south that year.

Yeah chant is applicable in all BCS games and non-bcs games where it's a no-contest. Close non-bcs game wins aren't worthy.
