If he is going to get a chance to be a HC, I would hope he would leave a DC job, it's called a promotion.

Perhaps you don't understand promotion at your local KFC? Keeping on frying, one day...one day.

For a head coaching job in the SEC (allegedly)

That he could have set himself up with last year. That would have allowed you all to hire someone else that could have established a foundation and something to build on. Now you all are back a square one having to replace a DC and maybe multiple position coaches.

I'm pretty sure USCe went after him pretty hard last year.

Muschamp was already in a situation like that at Texas and it didn't work out (had to wait quite a while).

How was Muschamp to know that Spurrier would bolt midseason?

By the way, you're wrong that Muschamp would have been head coach in waiting:

quote:

Much of the chatter about Will Muschamp possibly joining USC’s coaching staff has centered on the former Florida head coach one day replacing Steve Spurrier as Gamecock head coach. The idea of Muschamp being offered the head coach in waiting title, or being promised the job when it opens up, has been a major part of the narrative.
But we’re told Thursday night that if Muschamp does indeed chooses to come to USC, it will be without any HCIW label or any promises the job will be his in the future.
“(Ray) Tanner is not going for the guarantee thing,” our source tells us. “Spurrier wants to be part of picking his replacement and he likes Muschamp a lot.”

Well with Spurrier retiring he would have been in good position regardless.

Nobody knew when Spurrier would retire.

Whereas it's easy to predict when you'll start another Aubsession thread.

Among coaching circles it is a laughing fest to see who can take them for the most.

Like you hang out in coaching circles.
Is that you, Sexton?
