No.

Alabama had 100+ million in revenue across all sports.

I don't know what he's making now--but let's call it 10 million a year. 10% of revenue is most certainly not a drop in the bucket. Then you factor in assistants, other coaches (Avery), other sports, and general overhead?

Thing is, very few programs can afford to pay these salaries. Because most programs lose money in the first place. They did so even before this arms race.



Actually Bama made $164 million last year in revenue (A&M was $194). A lot of the reason for Bama making that much money is Saban wins a lot of football games. He makes about 6% of their revenue, Jimbo will make about 4% of A&M's. Auburn makes $140 mill so Gus would make about 5%.

It's significant but in the big picture it isn't enough to really affect finances that much, especially if they win.

Georgia and bama in the road next year means auburn won’t get their money’s worth next year.
